I'd say Hampson is a ruckman.

Not knowing much about either of them, how do people rate Tarrant compared to Bruce? Given Hendo's versatility either of them could fill a need for us, seems like Bruce may be the cheaper of the two to trade for.

He has a few question marks but would take him in a flash for an effective swap for Bootsma.
Reckon it would need a minor steak knife.

Laidler! Knew he'd come in handy.

Watched Tarrant over many years even back to his TAC days. Wasn't a fan then and have seen nothing to change my opinion. Tarrant is a lazy footballer, won't help us.

They ( the media) are adamant Boots is staying. So unless something else for Tarrant, then it will be difficult.

Oh ok. Thanks Gro.... Why did we bother signing him up then? We make strange decisions, but at least we are trying this year.

My personal view, based on some revelations over the last week or so, is that we knew there was some interest in Bootsma out West mid year. He was coming off contract this year, so we decided to sign him up on the basis that we could extract better value from a potential trade.

The combination of him being a WA lad and the lack of onfield production probably increased the chances of him getting through to either WC or Freo via the PSD if he was not under contract.

So there is a logic to the move, although the obvious downside is that if a trade can't be arranged then he's on the list for two years, potentially without the confidence of the coach.

..if Bruce could be a decent future kpd, then i'd rather chase him than robbie.. ..hendo is better as a player and better for the team up fwd..

Better than Bootsma
And he can mark the ball so he's better than Rowe
And he can kick the ball so he's better than Casboult.

Nah. Take the pick and go to the draft. I'd take a chance on a kid before adding another list clogger.

So he either puts his head down and tries to prove the coach wrong...or he plays out 2014 at Carlton with the view to asking for a trade this time next year. And next year - I dare say we'd be looking at a pick in the 40's. I don't envy the position the kid is in.

It's the same position as probably half the competition.

Only he now knows that he's not really rated by anyone bar us because we had the confidence to sign him up.

So, like it should be for every player, he's got to find it from within or he'll be on the scrap heap pretty quickly

Personally, I think it's a wake up call from the club like I said earlier. Not the first time it's happened and certainly won't be the last....

Agree on all counts. Plenty of ground to make up. Only one answer - hard work and production will shut people (like me) up.

First step would be to present himself in the best possible physical condition. He should be shitting dumbbells for the next three months.

Yes but he's one place removed from someone who was involved at Collingwood!
That meets our criteria perfectly!

Was coming out of contract, could have got nothing for him.

How is it a strange decision?

No deal done as yet, will be done Friday I reckon..
At this stage it looks like the only other trade we will do will
be the docherty deal...
Not sure what the club is doing in regards with laidler..
Thought we may have been offered 3/4 rounder..
Busy 2 days
