Elevate Cachia. We are joking right ? Keep on the rookie list and see if he has more strings to his bow. Is slow, and does not get the ball much, also does not hit the scoreboard. We have to many of these players. Ie Bell, Curnow. Would rather stick with them..

Whether you like Cachia or not there is NO need to elevate him. Leave him as a rookie.

A good turnover of the list is very much on the cards. I am anticipating we could get 4-5 picks in this draft alone, even with the elevation of Curnow and possibly Cachia/Bell.

Will wait and see how this one pans out...

Hampson staying is what I've heard this week. Not convinced that will remain the case during trade week though.

Glad you have listed McCarthy and Mitchell because many others don't get it that they have had their chances despite injuries.
Nearly all of our young players do not show form in the VFL. If you have "something" you will showcase it (even glimpses) at the lesser level even if you are inexperienced.

McCarthy hasn't really had the chance to show anything this year. Paddy played just seven games and never got going due to injury.

Will make a mockery of our desire to draft young KPP and players if we cut them after three seasons.

It will be more of a mockery if we don't clear the list space to turn our desires into something tangible. That's the logic being displayed here, keep them because we don't have strength in that area then neglect to improve the situation. We don't need poster boys for our perceived intentions, we need the real thing.

Really must target Mitch Hallahan and make an offer he can't refuse.

8 clubs chasing this kid - he's exactly the type of mid we need.

We have the cap space - no excuses !

Would Hallahan offer much more than Ellard, Cachia and Bell though?

he would walk straight into our midfield, stu

I've got high hopes for Bell - not sold on Cachia - Ellard too small IMO

Be happy with Hallahan. Just at what cost?

21yr old yet to get a game? Cost should be minimal.

Good old supply and demand. Funny how a number of other draftee's of theirs have had game time before he has.
I haven't seen him play except for his bio footage prior to the national draft. I do remember then, thinking him to be a half back??

Adelaide's Luke Brown got the round 23 nomination - it is now 3 consecutive seasons without a Carlton player getting a nomination.

Has more to do with the fact we haven't recruited many kids nor given them much of a go in recent years.

2011: Watson, McCarthy, Mitchell and McInnes: All have had more than their fair share of injuries and have had limited exposure for injury as much as for form.

2012: Bootsma, Buckley: Buckley injured just about all of 2012 but still has some way to go.

2013: Menzel, Graham, Temay. Menzel and Graham both with limited pre-seasons for injury. May have been different should have they had a clear run into the season.

Oh, that makes it alright then. :? The fact that you are responding to an invisible opinion is telling.

I'm sick of these BS excuses for our recruiting. It has been extremely poor. Why are the people in charge still there???

The acceptance of mediocrity has severely damaged this club.

We have changed coach, Improved development, New facilities, will get a new High Performance Manager now its time to get rid of the most damaging people. Our recruiters. Before Synbad jumps up and down I'm talking purely football department.

I'm amazed that the most important role in a football club is being allowed to keep working after such a record. :hitcomputer:

What do you mean? I don't know what you're getting at.

I've been questioning our list management for some time now.
No point even recruiting players if you aren't going to develop them as has largely been the case in recent years.

We're playing catch up in some areas but some just can't see beyond the first port of call: The Recruiters.
It works a little deeper than that and all parties have to work hand in hand. We haven't been but we best start doing so now, under Mick.
