List will have an 'overhaul' (those were his words). He has spoken to the group as a whole about this & spoken to some players individually.

Can someone explaing to me please, why we have to publicise this? What do we gain doing this in public and not behind closed doors?

It's already rumour so just confirm it. As long as the payers were advised I don't see the problem.

He likes to avert away his own deficiencies and divert attention elsewhere.
The list isn’t good enough..............I can’t coach and need time for a natural turnover of players to mature and come of age to make me look good.
The players need time to learn our game plan................I have no new ideas and need better assistant coaches.
We need to get our defensive pressure right and pride ourselves on our tackling.............Tag everyone then it make them harder to kick a bigger score against us.
Half the list won’t be here for the 17th.....................I’ll string everyone along for a few years with the rebuild then retire and if they come good everyone can say I built the list.

Is the list good? Top four quality? Premiership quality? Why dont you go through every player and give your thoughts on each of them. I bet if you do that youll see half the list needs to go !

One thing I always admired about Mick at Coll was he was always evolving the Coll list

He had players he loved like Licuria but even those guys were not given special treatment in the end - it was always about evolving the list and before you knew it the entire midfield had changed and the list had serious depth

Maybe what he's doing in 2013 is his ground zero. Find out those who have the mental fibre abd talent and those who don't, and while we are at it lets blood a Cachia in midfield and a Lucas on a wing and lets put some experience and talent down back to shore up what has for years been the weakest part of our team, and let's try Watson at CHF and let's give Zac some license to go forward if the opportunity presents and lets keep giving Boots the odd game

Let's not forget Coll bottomed out one year to get Thomas and Pendles. Can't see us finishing at the end of the ladder this year but we will have a lot of space in the cap for FAs (maybe Thomas) and a trade given we might look to trade Yarran and Warnock for what it's worth. Plus we have something like pick 9.

So suddenly you can see how the new wave might come through if we use pick 9 and what we get for Yarran on the best a available mids + we have Menzel and Graham and Bucks in the bank

+ maybe Thomas who would be a fine addition

List does need a major refresh. Largely the same group we had in 2011 so hard to have a go at Malthouse.

Same list as last year and the year before that. The list we expected to finish top 4 under Ratten and now hired a "premiership" coach to take it there. I'm sick of excuses and want the club to stand and demand excellence, others it seems are prepared to buy what is sold and wait another 3 years or more even. Oh well.

ps. please tell me how many top 20 picks we have on "our list" compared to other teams, except ofcourse GWS & GC and then come and talk to me.

The characters we have at his club, are the reason for our failures. We have players that don't hurt when we lose, ones that say we will improve next week and dismiss our last loss.

Ones like Gibbs who say she is going ok, and can only get better. When Gibbs?

They simply don't understand what it takes to be successful and are not willing to their bodies on the line.

Pretty mummies boys. This is what we recruit. No off field waves, good upstanding citizens..

Kruezer and Gibbs are untouchable, why cause they are very good boys.....

No killer instinct and no hurt........

Just plogging along....

There is always next year hey. We are improving apparently.

Can't blame Malthouse for their attitudes, maybe in a few years once he has had a hold of them properly..

You almost got it... same list as 2011 & 2012 but time doesnt stand still and Carlton have. Other clubs have improved and recruited and developed and gone past us.

If we continue to believe this list is good enough then next year there will be more clubs that leave us behind.

Talk about our hard running midfield.

the game has changed alot since 2 years ago... clubs have been adding midfielders over the last 4 or 5 years.. we add half back flankers and talls that cant run...

Where are our hard running 2 way mids?
Judd?
Carrazzo?
Murphy?
Ellard?
Bell?
Cachia?
Scotland?
McLean?
Curnow?
Robinson?

2nd worst midfield going forward of any club bar StKilda.

This!! MM hasn't had an opportunity to shape this list. Hamstrung with existing contracts and no $$ to pay players out and in the job since mornos last trade period. I think he deserves a trade/draft week at least to see if he can shape a winning side, at least show some improvement. It's not like he hasn't done it a couple of times before!

He has been hired to coach the current team with all its glory and flaws.
He finds it tough and brings out the cotton wool and eyes are covered so easily because of the hatred most had for our previous coach.
You're quick to praise Mick for Henderson, Walker and Touhey but why don't you criticize his game plan, his lack of leadership and his constant lack of responsibility and how our ball magnets and playmakers have been stifled by his out dated and pathetic game style and constant lack of stability.
Ratten was relentlessly badgered and constantly berated for his mistakes and Mick as an experienced and worldly coach has made bigger mistakes and been excused.
He has made everyone else the focus for his failings but everyone is eager to excuse him and follow the mediocre train solely because they have gotten rid of Ratten and nothing else matters.
I didn’t like Malthouse before but though he might bring some mongrel and fight at least to us.
Well he hasn’t even done that and seems to berate the list every chance he can just to justify his short comings.
How can a player play to his capabilities when you have nothing to play for?
In Mick you can trust but to me his is now officially an old selfish twit to put it nicely.

3rd worst synbad. No way we are worse than Melbourne (that makes you feel better doesn't it)

Next year we need to play two of walker, Simpson, tuohy or yarran in midfield.

Why aren't they playing in the midfield this year?

Do you believe Yarran will be at the club next year?

Yarran's problem isn't his ability, its his mentality.

It'll be somewhat devastating to see someone so "promising" go, but if he doesn't want to apply himself week in, week out, he's got to go.

If Footy Classified are right and Betts wants upward of half a million a year... he can go too. He's not worth it certainly not on this year's form. I love the bloke but you either sacrifice to be part of success or you don't have a spot, and Betts isn't in the top 10 at the club at the moment (which is an indictment on him).

Really sad and frustrating. It looks like the 3 amigos will be one after this year.
Yarran will go on to become an elite player and Betts will probably play in a premiership.

Just like Hamill, Campo, Russell and Fev

Yarran has been a softcock from day one. He had a reasonable year last year but was no star. Buckley has more guts. He can take his spot, and learn to play in the middle as well

Betts can GAGF if he wants that money. Bartel is on that money. Stand firm CFC and draw a line in the sand.

I would like to see Mitchell and McCarthy get another year. McCarthy particularly could develop into a Westhoff type mobile forward.
