Mick's such a wonderful coach, has made our better players go backwards, plays duds week in week out and doesn't reward those playing well in the 2's with a game.
Watson?
im kind of with BR on this, have been keeping as close a watch on the 2's as I can, and reading reports.
I'm STUNNED with the complete lack of reward Ive seen by MM not even contemplating certain players who are excelling in the 2's - and Im talking consistent form too!
Im not the biggest duigan fan in the world but hes been consistently in our top 3 or 4 in the 2's for much of the year - playing completely out of position too - from memory he had 13 or 14 marks as an onballer last week, he's played as an influential fwd, all sorts of roles, and played commendably in many games - and hasnt even been named as an EMERGENCY for months.
LAIDLER - well I just dont know what to say about Laids................ Last year I wouldve had him in our top 3 or 4 non on-ball players, this year who would know.
ive definitely read his name in the bests several times earlier in the year (about when MM was playing Bootsmas and McKinneses and CAchias and Curnows etc....)
LEVI was showing some great progress recently, really great, just around the time Waiter went to chalk again, then next minute he gets dropped, Rowe gets in, we beat St Kilda (SO not convincingly) Rowe does quite well (against substandard defence) keeps his spot but then is literally worst on ground Vs Nth and then again Vs Suns (clearly worst on ground) - in the meantime the 2's have a cracking win and Levi is a major factor in the win. But he keeps Rowe in - who was expectedly shit again tonight............
- Why hasnt Kruze been used on the fwd line with Hendo as a two prong tall fwd line with the 3 amigos rotating as crumbers? And bring Warnock (or Hampson) in to do the ruck work. Warnock is looking crappy but he has 2 clear upsides - he gets 94 taps a game and can kick 70 metres consistently and is 7 ft 4 tall, but like most rucks needs to be played and played played played in the 1's til one day it just clicks and all of a sudden we've got a Minson or Jolly or Bellchambers or Maric, who were all CRAP last year or year before but PERSISTANCE at the highest level eventually paid off.
- Hampson showed some glimpses early in the year that were scary good promising (particularly when played at CHF or FF) sure he was dropping a few clunkers but they looked like nervous, inexperienced mistakes rather than inadequacies in his ability. continuing with himin the 1's would eventually eradicate the pressure and self-expectation that was forcing these errors.
- THE DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS OF DROPPING & MAKING SUB BETTS/YARRAN - lets see how well that worked out? go watch the replay from tonight, and last week, - THEY WERE USELESS!!!!!!! worst since ive seen them at CFC, yet hold on, werent they just disciplined and had to earn their spots back just weeks ago?????????
um, YES!!!!! well hows that working out for us? or them should I say? - TERRIBLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its 2013 MM, kids dont get the cane at school anymore for wagging, they get modern day relevant punishments designed so they dont repeat those errors in judgement. tailored solutions. seems youre using 1950's generics!
- anyway flower this......im FUUUUUURIous after tonight...............unless we win every game from here on in Ill be petitioning to have a re-assesment of MM's appointment to be done over the off season - and the players MUST be very much involved, and their feedback is vital.
im very scared there's a generation gap (or two) that Sticks & Co didnt factor in as being a hurdle to modern day premierships.
I mean all u have to do is look at Clarkson, Scott, Hird, Thompson, Voss, McKenna, Worsfold - firstly theyre all at least 30 years younger than MM, which means theyre much closer to the mentality and and have played a much more similar variety of football in their careers than old drop-kick it in the mud in between torpedoes and punch ons and the stagnancy of yesteryears game.
its not rocket science (although ironically it also kind of is) but dont get a super renowned rocket scientist who worked brilliantly on the Apollo in the early 70's to work on the space labs of 2015 because although it' still essentially the same job and same game - its also NOTHING LIKE IT!!!!!!!!!
im sick of the words 'rebuild' and 'list potential' etc........... FFS in 2011 and for most part of 2012 the bombers were so average and their players looked accordingly so - they looked run of the mill at best - then 12 months later theyre sitting pretty in 2nd position.
WCE list and position and momentum had many experts (incl. me) putting them in the top 4 this year, if not top 2 - well look at them now!
Swans team on paper last year did not look like a premiership side and actually still doesnt when you look at it again.......................
Again this year, theyre not, but by gosh will they go close. Pretty sure longmire was put in place half expected to orchestrate some form of re-build at Sydney after Roos left - he won the flag straight away.
im so freaking lost at the moment when it comes to Carlton.............
I dont know if we're going to come last next year, or maybe win flag?
Honestly wouldnt have a clue?
I cant see us getting better by cleaning out 6-7-8 or 9 players - the replacement stocks are pretty much in the hands of the newcomers already.
and who's MM ever recycled whos gone on to become a 6-7 year star? its not his way, clarkson did it quite well, he even managed to get a flag by just a little rejigging, and having had the bloke for a P.E teacher for 4 years I know he's as deep thinking and strategic as circus monkey, but Ill give him one thing - he understands MODERN football, and has a rapport with YOUNGER players that MM may have had once in 1923.
what er we going to do???????????
