but surely the task was to build a group of leaders....

and build a full midfield.. not rely on him winning brownlows...for us to stay in the race

reliance on him was ridiculous

although I do believe he has been a great leader and he did captain West Coast to a premiership (says it all really)

need more than one leader in a team

First step is we need a power forward and stop relying on 2ft nothings to bring home the bacon in big games. I would be trading for Boyd... even would trade Murphy... last night changed my mind.

Second Step is midfielders... we're not as bad here as what posters make us out to be but we do need an injection of depth and hopefully sprinkling of class.

We are overweight two areas... rucks and small forwards who avoid a physical contest. Time to cut our losses here.

The attitude of relying on one...thinking one person/player solves everything.

Of course more quality mids are needed but quality talls as well.

You saw what happened when Mr Tissue Paper broke down. Even when he is playing you don't get a consistent performance. You get some good (Essendon*) but more often than not you get flakiness, poor discipline, leading to the boundary.

We need a key forward who will lead down the middle and provide a genuine target for players up the ground.

Too many people thinking short term...time to build some structure and to get kids in that will bust their gut. Even if that means trading out one or more of your 'favorites'. My NHL team traded their captain overnight...it's a business...the AFL and it's supporters need to appreciate and embrace this better than they currently do.

Tend to agree. Would rather try and stock up with at least 3 picks in the top 20 and go from there, rather than pick 1 (or Thomas).

Salem, Gardiner, Hourigan fanks.

That's what we mean by straightening us up, but most say it's about the process. :lol:

Going through the middle every now and then would also be nice.
If some one can draw a map for the players so they might find it that would be greatly appreciated. :roll:

Unfortunately I have to agree.

After a restless night sleep this is what i would do;
Delist;
Collins, Rowe, O'Keefe, McCarthy, Davies, Duigan, Joseph
Retired; Scotland
Trade;
Warnock, Laidler, Yarran (only for a good offer).
I would keep Watson (if he wants to stay) and Mitchell as we have very little KPP depth

This would free up 8 spots.
Go after a free agent and not concentrate just on a player like Daisy but a lesser known who wont cost as much in terms of salary cap space.
We dont have a good group of kids coming through, we havent had a Rising Star nomination for years.
This is a pretty good draft from all accounts so stock up on kids, especialy mid fielders.

There is no quick fix, it will take years to clean up the mess.

Is there a maximum number of chances we can make, or only a minimum?

Add Curnow, Bell to delist. Both aren't good enough to play in a top 4 side. To many flaws.

Add Hampson to trade list. Pick some mature ruck as a backup to Kreuzer.

Add Betts to free agent lost. My gut feeling.

Keep McCarthy as we lack KP depth and need some cover. The kid also hasn't been given a chance at senior level yet to see if he can handle it. By chance I mean at least 4-5 games. Same applies to Mitchell.

as many as you would like. key will be contract status and salary cap.

clearing out 19 players is ridiculous - irrational thinking Psychologist

It's not a complete rebuild, we still have a core to build on that are young enough.

McInnes, Tuohy, Murphy, Gibbs, Kreuzer, Henderson, Garlett, Walker, McLean.

Even Carrots, Judd, Simmo have a couple of years left to see the next wave transition.
