i think yarran is inherently lazy - dont think he will ever become a real hard worker

great in patches but i think thats all he ever will be

see whats on offer, if its no good - keep him

but i wouldnt say he is untouchable

Generally, the difference between the top teams and the middle teams is typically one or two top notch players. We could do with two top inside mids who run both ways. We have to be prepared to trade/pay top shelf.

Well, I'm glad we only lost by 5 points.
There'd be no one left if we lost by 30.

The reality is, the coaches are responsible for developing the players.
Theres plenty of highly rated juniors on our list who were excellent state level juniors. It cant be simply a case of poor recruitment.
Lets not get the razor blades out after 10 rounds. The responsibility is on the coaches to develop and improve what is on our list. Theres still 3 months of football to go. Theres plenty of improvement left in that 3 months if the coaches actually do their job.
FMD.

Funny isn't it.

We lose a game where we were clearly the better side and all of a sudden we need the "Melbourne Solution"

Get Neeldy!!

Who said anything about doing things like Melbourne? However, I would love to have a player like Hogan on the list.

What would your "solution" be, cimm? Would it be the bugger-all attrition system?

Well, I think Grro's solution has a certain red and blue hue.

I think the solution is identify the best players and the depth of players in certain positions, like maybe ruck or mid sized defenders and delist/trade/recruit for need and the future.

GWS offered O'meara as one of the 17 year old picks for Kruz. WE obviously did not see it as a good deal and if you look at the mids around a lot of them were later picks. The theory being midfielders are a dime a dozen!

I have no problem with that.

But some of the stuff in the last 14 hrs has been hysterical nonsense.

My personal belief is that there wont be a massive change to the first 25 players we have but a fair bit in the 25-44 section.

When something happens over AND OVER nothing will change without changes....

Changes will be made or nothing will change.

Start at the top.

you also don't rip the heart out of your club, have to be smarter than that

it's not like can we simply go and recruit players like Kernahan and Bradley

I wouldn't have a problem in shopping around Kreuzer or Gibbs, obviously for the right price

Should have shopped him around before he was made captain.

We need to test the market.

How else do you improve.
It's not the bottom 10 changes that will lift us.

I'm not advocating sweeping changes to the list but why not shop some quality around?

How else do you improve?
The old Tc trade of 3 crap players for 1 good one. It doesn't work that way.

We aren't that good we don't have that much quality that we should think 80% of our list is untouchable.

Don't trade for the sake of trading but we should sure as hell be exploring all possibilities.

Maybe not 80%, but I would think at least half won't be considered unless there's some Crazy Vossy shit out there.

Last night and the next 3 games will help us find out who can play well in big games and who can't. I have my list and I will be interested if I can take anyone off that list.

Maybe buckley deserves another year, but outside of that I pretty much agree with Psych's list. Must also try very hard to trade one of Warnock and Hammer at the least. I'm sure they will look at trading others.

The shame of I all is that we've missed completely on the Watson, McCarthy, Mitchell draft so we probably now need to go ack and focus on key backs instead of bolstering the midfield again. I've given up on us developing a decent forward. Just buy one, we obviously can't daft/develop them ourselves.

Here is my assessment of the list:

Good/very good/keep: Murph, Gibbs, Judd, Jamo, Hendo, Army, Garlett, Betts, Yaz, Walker, Waite, Scotland, McLean, Simpson, Carrazzo, Tuohy

Young but will/should make it: Menzel, McInnes, Bootsma

Unknown: Graham, Temay

Average but need to be replaced by better: White, Ellard, Curnow, Cachia

On notice/trade: Robbo, Kreuzer, Hampson, Warnock, Casboult (trade 2 of the 4), Lucas

Probably gone/wont make it: Mitchell, Watson, McCarthy (what a 2010 draft), Buckley, Bell, Laidler

Definitely Gone: Duigan, Davies, Joseph, Dale, Collins, Rowe, O'Keeffe

Backed up Kane Lucas with Matthew Watson.

That's a killer blow on any side.....

I seriously can't believe what this club has been thinking it was doing.
Dud drafting.
Dud developing.
Dud coaching.
Dud list management.
Dud administration.

Yes sixty thousand members and we go to the MCG..... dud mentality.
