You think inexperienced teams like GWS have these runs where the opposition score for long periods....not a seasoned team like us.

There is no method/sign of us slowing the opposition's momentum

Long periods where they just disappear

Been our habit for years to allow teams to kick multiple unanswered goals

Conceeded 7 goals in the second qtr for the second time this year, conceeded 7 goals in a qtr for the third time this year.

Only conceeded 7 goals twice in a qtr for the entire 2012 season!

hmmmmm

Leaking like a sieve.

When Ratten took over, he worked on this - slowing the game down to change moment and late goals in quarters.....seems both have returned this year.

Ratten got the players to hold the ball up and say " Molon Lave"

football is a simple game... you need to get your hands on the ball.. not slow it down.. cos slowing out down gives the opposition an opprtunity to organise.

Basically if you win the footy and move it efficiently from point A to point B you win

So how d you do this if you have players who arent working hard enough or dont dispose of the ball efficiently... where u have some players downhill skiiers.. and the other half so defensive they dont run off their man to peel off and provide an option.

Im confident we will sort it out.

But reputations need to be battered

There is no one standing up or no system in place to settle it down.

It isn't hard to chip it for a few minutes or two. Take it down the line and get a few throw ins.

Chipping it around wont do it.
Clubs run at us and we panic.

We need to stand up and wrestle scratch bite kick back the ascendency....

Mentally we go to water... some do stand up .. and some dont.

Its like a phalanx.. if one person didnt stand up and protect the person next to him the line fell over .. and it was a massacre.
The guy that turned around and was found with a spear in the back was called a 'malaka' literal translation is 'soft...its a stain to his family.. and the name

Its a bout holding on and doing all the things for those around you .. that holds up structures.
Sacrifice and digging deep... then if u do go down.. its not for lack of bravery and heart.. but lack of talent.

We have too many the ancients would have labelled "malakes"... or soft
Preparation and the willgness to do what you have been trained to do and self sacrifice.
Tackle. Stand up .. kick those goals...stick to the game plan... do not panic!!!

But it must be done across the board... weak links... create uncertainty and uncertainty leads to panic.

Leadership is also super important....
But the unit acts as a single BEING ... breathing bleeding and working as one..... not a bunch of individuals doing what they wanna do... unpredictable....uncertainty brings panic

We had ample opportunity to reply with goals.. and we didnt.!!..

Why not?
Cos we panicked and lost confidence.

Weve trained to kick goals from 20 yards out... why do we miss so many??... cos we hav e the yips...

And thats because we fall away from what we have been trained to do...

... you only need some soft contributions and it flows through the team like a virus.

the less soft players we have the more we hold our nerve.. cos they believe and trust in each other.

We dont trust in our own team mates.. and therefore ourselves.

Its belief and mental...

i know... so we must shed some...!!!... cos they turn the team to panic...
And the ones that make the cut must stick to the basic structures...!!!!

its always been like this.. and always will...

Did you look on ebay for a guide on what not to draft????... thats what you should be searching for....dont worry about me... iim not single handedly responsible for the genocide of 3 years of Carlton draftees who should be formi ng the backbone of our clubs list in a succesful era straight after 10 years of good early picks on the back of darkness...
Go do an Ebay search.....

"How to pick good players with early picks "... use your snipe bid thinggy.....

The problem is we tried to discuss all this last year but too many got side tracked and went all 'dull-thinking' about things.

So we need a change in the coaching box because the bloke at the top had had long enough to get better results but we didn't address the reasons he wasn't getting the results. "sack him because he is a shit coach" is all we got.

Really he wasn't too bad at coaching tactically with a fair chunk of his tactics still used at carlton and used at other clubs.
His problem was he put together a list of individually talented players but a group of players that collectively were soft and there was nothing he or countless assistants could do to harden them up. Now we are seeing that one of the greatest coaches ever cant harden them up.
Anyone who has watched carlton the last few years would know our obvious bad habits. Not sure why they were not addressed last pre season.

Why have we wasted a season?

The problem is club.... we have drafted those players and persisted with them.

Aesop has a fable about the farmer with the five squabbling sons... so he takes them aside and he asks each of them to bring a handful of sticks.. so they all run off and bring their own bunch of sticks.

he takes one and gives it to the oldest son...and asks him to snap it.. which the oldest son does... and he does that with each of his sons...thay all snap the stick given to them....
then he gets a bunch of sticks into a pile and again asks one by one to brea the pile.. of course they cant..
so he says ... "you see sons... alone .. youre easly broken... but together.. there is nothing that can break u as a group"

we have this problem dont we... the system isnt adhered to by the whole group.. and some let the group down with either softness or skills...

so we need to find ourselves a group of players all marching to the same beat....and all do the right things more often

and yes club.... ratten never understood this... and he had to go...!!!

Malthouse does!!!

He should have got every tape of every Carlton game for the last 3 years. Every camera angle and used his experience to find the week links and made adjustments last October instead of going around Australia trying to sell his daughters book.

Instead we have to kill a year while we all sit back and watch him learn what we already know.

Your earlier post was written 100 times in the last 3 seasons by various posters. Most got shut down by the "the players are fine the coach is just shit" posters but the post are there and it makes you wonder that it was so obvious to everyone why wasn't anything done last October.

yes cos he had 5 years to do exactly that and he didnt... !!!

so this guy will do it at te end of the year... he still needs to know them .. and get them to sit on his couch so can ask them questions.

i reckon russell is a better player at collingwood...

would u believe hes rated in the top few tacklers in the AFL ????

what they did under rattens systems and his persona might be different with mm.

he hasnt wasted a year... we wasted five!!!....

this is Rattens list... remember that!!!

and yes now im watching the ones who i reckon cant play finals style footy.....its not just Lucas.. the problem with Lucas is we should have had one in his place that could...

Then we move to Watson McCartney (Though im still bullish on McCartney.... his is definitely mental not physical.... but mental physical could be the same bondage)....Rowe there are a few first round second round picks that cant do it...
All these wasted picks....

and Cazzesman shows me this great big thing he found on ebay and he sends it to me... and asks me if i can put it to good use...

I reckon i could put it to good use!!!....
