Might be a long, long time before they get you onside then..

Interesting concept of "soft".

I reckon trying to injure another player whilst giving him little recourse to defend himself is pretty pissweak/soft myself. What did you think of the Carrazzo/Lonergan tackle?

Surely your not suggesting that in the split second chase that you expected the Essendon* player to adjust his speed downwards and risk allowing carrots to dispose of the ball or to some how have the capacity to physically prevent the forward momentum from happening?

ohh paleeeeaaase ... that would be overly simplistic, unrealistic and based on a personal persecution complex.. TAKE NOTE all Carlton players that's the way to tackle...

Don’t be fooled DU every players course of action has intent.
What the intent is seems clearer in some instances than others. The force of the execution of each act defines the deliberation and its objective.
Whether it’s to negate, impede or hurt only the force defines its purpose for each act. From a late tackle to a stoppage block each has its own specific purpose and some are executed to a better degree than others.

Yes your right RB-as usual..., I'm sure the peptide didn't feel an ounce of remorse for carrots, but I don't think a change of intent would have resulted in a different outcome, the only way that outcome would have been different is if his attack on carrots was less purposeful, I certainly wouldn't be happy knowing any of our players held back on their intensity in a similar tackle because they felt they owed a nicety to an opposition player. In that instance you had both players loosing their feet, the weight of both coming down at the same time. Had it been reversed we d be praising carrots for his attack on the peptide. Unfortunately them's the breaks (literally).

..unlucky for Merret, yes he does 'kind of' sling tackle, but it happens often enough in game.. ..if you watch the tackle closely, he only has one arm pinged to the side.. ..Hurley still has an arm free.. .... ..so it's not a case of wrapping up a player tight and smashing them into the ground, which the illegal sling tackle is more about.. ..concussion and carry-over points more a factor, vs the actual tackle itself in isolation..

..agree about the 2 lumbering talls maximum.. ..and while Krooz and even Knockers have some athleticism in general, aside from NicNat even the more athletic rucks are still a bit lumbery when compared to other kpps.. .... ..the Bolt can cover some ground, and has good work ethic when his fitness can match intent.. ..but with 2 rucks he can slow us down a bit.. ..if his kicking was better and his amrking to last eyars standard he'd fit in the team, but his agility/movement along with other game flaws will keep him out of the side if we play 2 rucks..

..which i would do, Luey is not one to take lightly and Knockers is more his match-up.. ..if you can have 2 class rucks working together in concert, its very effective.. ..if knockers can break even with luey, krooz will take their 2nd ruck to the cleaners..

1) Re Bris - I think the Bombers did us a favour last weekend
2) We only lose to Essendon* when we don't take them seriously

1) Re Bris - I think the Bombers did us a favour last weekend
I think the bigger barrier to us winning strings of matches than the number in a row etc... is our perception of the opposition.
I always thought we'd struggle to win all of this string of 5 'easy' games b/c we approach games based on how hard we think we need to go to win. That is why we have had a good record against good teams in recent years (except Hawthorn) but drop games against weaker teams. This is the no.1 challenge for MM and why I highlighted the STK match as our biggest test in the first half of this season (FAIL)
I am more confident of beating Bris now than I was a week ago b/c we will take them a bit more seriously now.

2) We only lose to Essendon* when we don't take them seriously
I also think we will beat Essendon* b/c we will take them seriously.
We have generally lost to them early in the year b/c we haven't taken them seriously. We inevitably smash them in the return match b/c we go at 100%. eg. Round 4 last year:
- We had just smashed Richmond (44pts), Brisbane away (91pts) and the Pies (60pts)
- Essendon* had scraped in against North (2pts), beaten weakling Port and unconvincingly beat GC (18pts). I had never been more confident of beating the Bombers leading in to this match and I suspect the players felt the same. Then they came out with intent and strength and we crumbled, physically and mentally. We smashed them in the return bout.

CHRIS Yarran has been ruled out of Carlton's line-up for at least another week, while Andrew Carrazzo and Bryce Gibbs face fitness tests before the Blues' clash with the reinvigorated Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Saturday night.

In better news for Blues fans, Jarrad Waite was not named on the club's injury list after being curiously substituted at three-quarter time during his side's win over Port Adelaide on Sunday.

I think bringing back 3 players from injury in the one week might have been a bit much against an apparently physical opponent, however I can imagine bringing back Yazz against GWS the week after and thus getting some match fitness/prep for the peptides game the following week. id reckon 1 will come back this week, (probably gibbs) the the other 2 will be back in the GWS game.

Gibbs apparently had a minor hamstring strain. If he missed this week it would be 4 missed games for an apparent minor injury
