I have been a fully paid up member since 2000. I have not renewed my membership this year as I am not convinced that the club has really grasped the idea of what is required to take the next step. Every year there were ridiculous hassles with handling my membership, bordering on incompetent. This is a watershed year for me. Unless I see significant improvement I will just support from afar. I have followed Carlton since 1968 so pretty passionate about the club but our last 13 years have been such a disappointment.

I am a bit perplexed with your reasoning of not joining,we have a new coach ,new captain I dont know what you want from the club.Every club has membership issues, you think its only Carlton you are dreaming I have been a member since 1968 and I will be a member till i die( which nearly happened last year) whether we finish 1st or 18th I will always be there .Come on dont be like that we need you to be a member at least BUY A 3 GAME MEMBERSHIP

My membership is a donation as I live overseas and rarely get to watch a game. Like always, a donation is personal choice and I have made one. I want my club to be forward thinking, have clearly defined leadership and an ability to make wise calls when necessary. This is not country footy but fully professional. That is what i expect. I have good friends involved in the background of CFC that give so much to our organisation. I wish those running the club had the same selfless attitude. I want the club to be as successful as possible. The sailor man has it down as to why we haven't been able to take the next step.

Thank you for supporting Carlton Football Club.

Whilst the club is essentially responsible for it's membership numbers on one level we're also at a significant demographic disadvantage.

Yes, every club has it's bogans and Rhodes Scholars (actually the Rhodes Scholars bit might not apply to Collingwood) but it's the percentages that count when it comes to the breakdown of supporter engagement.

The largest demographic for a rusted on membership (won't give it up regardless of the circumstance) comes from a mentally unstable, low IQ, semi Neanderthal supporter group who exist at all clubs but in greater numbers at some clubs than others.

Sadly for our membership numbers we're somewhat deficient in this area (Talking Carlton excepted) and as a result find ourselves at a significant disadvantage every year in terms of membership retention.

The typical Carlton supporter votes with his/her wallet whilst the typical Collingwood supporter tries to knock that wallet off.

Yes, the club needs to do better but until we can rebuild our membership demographics in a manner that dramatically lowers the average IQ of the typical Carlton member we don't have much hope of keeping up.

STKILDA game isn't going to help....

Can't see i50000 happening....do we sack the membership dept?
Isn't Jeannie heavily involved in the membership dept this year?

I know ex members who have not been contacted for 2 years yet were continuous members throughout the 2000 decade

But speaking from experience - do they really need to be reminded and/or encouraged like a 4 year old does to brush their teeth every night? Do they really need a sales call?

Yep.

There's no other way.

They have been treated badly by past regime re seating and promises (they obviously never documented).

I wish I wasn't so passionate about the club, because imo Carlton is not a club which embraces its own....if only I could cut the cord....the current regime has not and does not impress me nor inspire me...I'm an addict trying to get off the Blue stuff...then we have a win against the Demons and we are premiership material...still associate wins with the glory days.

Anyway, I truly hope we get the 50K and the MCG becomes our home to see what happens next.
