How would Laidler, Watson, Duigan feel not to even be considered with all the players we are missing.

The ridiculous VFL fixture didn`t help their cause.

Not sure I follow your thinkin' there, barass. Waite back is the single biggest minus of a selection for 2013. I'm hoping it's just a ruse and they actually play him in the twos. Then Rowe in for Waite, and Joseph, Cachia, Bell, and Menzel for the bench.

Tell me you're taking the p1ss.

Tell yourself! What don't you get? You guys focus on this one in and that one out and it's all rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. Who gives a shit what single player plays or doesn't. In the big scheme of things, beating Port will make no difference. After all, we beat Melbourne didn't we!!??

Until we're willing to REALLY upset the apple cart and do the equivalent of dropping Stevie J for 6 weeks, dropping Stokes for 10 weeks or whatever it was, sitting Gazza down and telling him he's a lazy flower, standing up to Scarlett and letting him know he's a knob...... we'll stay in the same predicament we've been in for the past decade.

Playing Waite this week will be another in a long line of shit decisions (or non-decisions) this average club has made in the last 10 years, right on the back of (in no particular order):

- not getting Fev to pull his head in (ie, not dropping him);
- allowing Pagan and Mitchell to behave like schoolgirls for almost a year;
- tolerating Lance showing up at the beginning of each year looking like a contestant on The Biggest Loser;
- tolerating a CAPTAIN holding out for more money every year and training on his own;
- not dropping Fev, Lappin, and Houlihan down to the twos for a month in a public statement......

There's more, but you get the flavour.

I'll trade you Waite's 3 contested marks in the FP and 2 goals 3 for a shock wave going through the playing group with a collective "Wow, they're fairdinkum! They're willing to risk not having a marking forward just to say we won't tolerate flowers here!!! Wow!! Time to pull our heads in and get serious!"

ditto

Not the right players for them... backline is very settled bar Gibbs being out but Scotland fits in nicely (and Simmo has been going back there). Couldn't see those three replacing Yarran, Betts, Carrazzo especially as we are already big and slow enough and need to remove one of the rucks.

Laidler may have some right be pissed off.

Watson should appreciate the way he's being developed and the confidence shown in him.

Duigan should understand. All he has to do is to view any tape of his recent VFL games.

Patrick Ryder is better than Gumbleton yet was kept out for another week.

For what it's worth, Dr Larkins on 7 said after the game on Monday that he should be right to play against Port.

Hoping one of the ruckmen (likely Hampson) is dropped.

its pretty clear they're not in the clubs plans moving forward. when that happens (particularly with the senior players ie Duigs and Laidler who may have influence on the rest of the group) you get them out of the club asap before factions start to take hold. cant see them surviving at years end

No, no it's not "more than likely". You don't get how a selected 22 works. I like how you capitalised LUCAS for effect.

No, no you don't "realise the selection process". For a player to be selected as an emergency, they generally have to be named in the starting 25, barring exceptional circumstances.

HAHAHA what a joke.
Gumbleton had kick 9 goals and 22 marks from his 3 games prior to Ryder not getting selected. He was in great form and didn't deserve to be dropped.

You seen anyone in the key forward ranks racking up those kind of stats for us lately?

I agree... playing Waite is pi$$weak. the leadership team should have imposed another weeks ban

So u would give betts an extra week as that was much more stupid

You have to scratch your head with this MC. The Northern Blues did not play last week ... so whats happened to Casboult in the interim? I would have thought if it was out of Casboult (who was named as an emergency last week) and Rowe (who was not) ... that Casboult would get the nod first. I am not saying Casboult is better although he probably has more potential ... I just don't get whats going on.

Week after week ... we get strange inconsistencies and crazy selections. Not rewarding form but rather sticking with players that have been tried over and over again and found wanting.

I hope Bell and Menzel get a run. I suspect Hampson will have a rest. But then again ... you never know what you are going to get with this MC. I would like to blame the coach (you all know my opinion there) but I think the trouble goes much deeper (follow the white rabbit Neo). Who is on the MC anyway?

A statement needed to be made but the club squibbed it. Gumbleton apparently 'rested' this week...

No point giving Waite an extra week. He owes the club, his teammates and supporters. Why pay him big bucks to play in the 2's. He needs to get his act together and perform in the seniors. If he doesn't then drop him.

Barry Hall at Sydney. Mooney at some point in 06 I believe? Jeff Farmer at Melbourne and Nicky Winmar at St Kilda all given club imposed suspensions.

Anyone who suggests Waite needed to have some kind of example made of him is speaking silly talk.

He copped a week from the MRP for a silly little thing. He didn't go around the whole game belting people or sulking or sooking.

Malthouse went through him like a hot needle through butter privately.

So how about people step off a bit and stop baying for blood.

This place is like the roman Colosseum at times... people just want someone to die.
