We must simply start to create an aura about ourselves to these shitty teams that they have already lost to us before they even play us.

We must kill them!!!

KILL THEM!!!!!

Tonight was the night to show these C$&€S and the rest of the competition that we are not the flaky team of old, not the team that if you have a crack at that you are in with a chance.

We failed miserably, same old flakiness, same old mental fragility and insipidness, a win would have only masked over the cracks - There is a lot of crap to clear out of this club and Mick is just starting to work out this wont be a cushy superannuation project.

You can get some ripper mids in the second round; types like Hannebery.

We need to focus on those types.

a) Win their own footy
b) Good endurance
c) Good kicks - for an inside player Hannebery is an excellent kick.

should be a norm smith medallist

was robbed

Our blokes cant find anoything good after pick 30... so go the hbfer...and top up with rookie mids...

Now that is one [REDACTED] up plan for success!!!...

It's never as bad as it looks after a game like tonight, and its never as good as it looks after a win like West Coast.

We're average, and are likely to be that way for a while. It's what happens after that that I'm worried about.

What Mick needs to do is get realistic with his team selections... that was shit.. but still shouldnt have mattered against StKilda.

Second he must start culling the weak..!!!... and if that means a pick 12.... it means a pick 12.

On the plus side... Warnock is a revelation... and wait till he gets a couple more games under his belt...

You cannot play footy and expect to win when you have weak footballers in the side!!

CULL HIM!!!!!!

No I haven't changed when they are deplorable I call it - like I did when we lost to Richmond -tonight was completely incompetent unprofessional in all ways - yarran wasn't fit yet plays -everyone in Australia bar our coaching team thought playing 3 ruckman was going to be a problem -our best forward tall gets suspended for headbutting and misses his 6th match of the season

only one laughing tonight is Ratts who knows that these players continually let you down and they can and will do it to the messiah coach as well

Did Lucas have lots of weak mates out there tonight? Yes
Will Lucas make it in afl? Doubtful. No football brain
Don't give him Russell like benefit of the doubt

Lost at selection
Yarran should not have played
Can't play 3 rucks.

Courageous effort by Murphy to play on after being stomped on. Could not walk after the game.
Jammo's shoulder came out in first quarter and again in the second half. Kept using his right arm to spoil anyway
50 less rotations
a free to Garlett wins us the game

oh the umpires lost it for us ???

Typical rationalising of being crap

The selections were crapola!!!... but you still have abled bodied men out there whos sole reason for being out there is to win footy games.. the ones with the most desire usualy win the games...!!!...

And Lucas???? CRACKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

weak shit clubs blame umpires!!!

Strong clubs look within and swear to get the job done!!!

The more excuses we make the further away from success will we find ourselves!!!

Just a pathetic, disgusting, disgraceful effort tonight.

Since when can you win a game by only playing 1 quarter. They should be ashamed.
I was hopeful that Mick was going to fix this shit. At least he should have learned a lot tonight.

And a special mention to Brock, Hammer and Murph who missed 3 easy goals (Brock being lazy, Murph needlessly running too close to the man on the mark, Hammer spudding it) in the first quarter which would have completely changed the complexion of the game, despite most of the team not even giving an effort for 3 quarters.

We have lost 4 games by 2 goals or less this year - if our group of mentally fragile flake heads think skating through with 15 minutes of football effort is enough for them to win games of football then they are sorely mistaken.

Absolutely not blaming umpires simply stating a fact.
We were terrible
We played unfit players
We didn't deserve to win
and yet
Garlett free and we win.
What i take from that is Malthouse needs to fix our forward line first and foremost.
I'd play Waite back and build our forward line around Henderson

Pathetic ... it amazes me that the so called supercoach continued to allow our midfield to keep bombing the ball in ... It clearly wasn't working ... The saints just kept picking it off time after time.

A really poor effort tonight ... we will be one of the few teams StKilda gets 4 points against this year.  :hitcomputer:

I'm pleased that we at least fought it out despite being horribly undermanned and unbalanced for nearly the entire night. It is always going to be difficult when you are two men down early in the game. To think that we got to within a goal in the last quarter was a creditable effort under the circumstances.

In the end, losing Ellard was a real blow, not because he is a great player, but with Carrazzo and Gibbs missing as well, the midfield numbers start to get a bit thin.

Astounded we actually played Kruezer ... here I was thinking it was all bluff.

Not sure it was the clubs fault on Yarran ... the medicos would have been guided by what he was telling them ... for all we know he may have been telling them he was cherry ripe.

I knew we were gone when we lost Ellard and Yarran ... you could even see the rest of the teams head drop. The first quarter was a nightmare with injuries also to Murphy and Jamison.

In the corresponding game last year we were playing for top spot and got stage fright.

Tonight we were playing to knock the pies out of the eight and got stage fright.

Our players are not driven ... they are not on any mission ... we should have been the hunter but instead were the hunted. I get this feeling that alloy of our players are just happy to be AFL players and nothing more.

You can bag me as much as you like but I perceive Essendon* as a club that is on a real mission ... they want success badly and this performing enhancing issue shows up their mindest to do what ever it takes.

We need to set some standards ... no more recruiting choir boys ... no more acceptance of very poor disposal (are you all still wondering why Mitch Robinson got selected at pick 40 ???).

Oh, and on the topic of leadership ... you need to be like a donkey in order to be a good leader ... why ??? ... because a donkey is prepared to wear the heavy saddle on their back ... this is what makes Maxwell a good leader.

Since when has Hanneberry been an excellent kick for an inside mid?

Even Sydney supporters say it's his weakness. Average kick, but tough like Parker. Shocking skill errors against Geelong. They didn't take Lamb and Johnston first because these two were great kicks and elite mids.

It wouldn't surprise me if most of that was due to a self-fulfilling prophesy. The snowball effect in action.

Our recruiting reeks of a lack of composure creating lack of ambition creating a lack of composure creating lack of ambition creating... then we crack. In other words, too obsessed with the preceding season's losses in trying to evaluate who would be good for us and too scared to bomb out completely. We also have a hording mentality with the players we already have as well. How can you develop players when you draft too few that have the attributes worth developing in the first place? A small handfull of softies and flashy types (but very few talls) at the top end and the rest in flawed workhorses and recycles.

THIS. IS. THE. PROBLEM!!!

We got the talent but we aren't bloody hungry!

Where is the controlled aggression?

Where is the attack?

How can you put on a Carlton jumper and prance around like that?

Simply embarrassing.

Lucas as an early pick is the lifeline to future success... a piss pooor weak footballer means your future is crap...

Im not going to bag the 5 rookie midfield we have who show more fight than Lucas... ill bag Lucas' recruitment.. AND Watsons!!!

Thats 2 first round picks gone to the dogs!!!

on the other hand it meant we could've picked Talia, filling a key defensive post, which would've allowed us to pick Jack Darling then instead of Watson. Wouldn't we have been so much better off.

Theoretical I know but still.....

Says who?

You and Synbad always ignore that Adelaide and others club rated our players just to give your arguments oxygen. And you only give lip service to games where they play well and spin it. Pathetic arguments.

Synners, I think everyone knows your thoughts on Lucas and I think most of us agree with you at the moment.. I do anyway. But repeating the exact same words 5 times on every page of every thread gets really, really boring.
