Ok just a few points
*Malthouse will know what Lucas is all about.
*We have a bunch of rookies in the most important part of the ground the midfield... lets look at this.... Carrazzo/Ellard/Curnow/Bell/Cachia/Lucas (Might as well be a rookie)... but we have 10 hbfers in the reserves all fighting for the 2 hbfer spots for Preston.....
*Talls are crap....and are not coming through
*Will be forced to play without 2 of our small forwards next week (Yarran will not play and Betts likely to get a couple)
*Will never play with 3 ruckmen again ... which is a good thing.
*Will need to play a smarter gameplan using more agile small forwards than big blokes who cant play.
*Back to Lucas.. he is the biggest down hill skier in the @#$%&! world!!!... and not only that but he has super pox skills...!!I cannot believe this is what we came up with , with an early pick and chances are high that he will be gone along with Watson McCarthy and Mitchell.. and thats a recruiting WIPEOUT!!!!

Why don't you be a man and pick on the Captain instead of the third year player...because that's a downhill skiier of Alberto Tomba proportions....the bloke refuses to defend. Refuses. Plays as if his shit doesn't stink. Shouldn't have been made captain.

Synbad your last point is our issue in a nutshell. Horrible recruiting. All of those you mentioned need to go. Incl Mitchell. Have seen him twice this year. He is not the answer.

PS Lucas will never be a Murphy....

Not only is Lucas a first name and a first name and Murphy is a bone fide surname... but Lucas is just out n out crap.. and i reckon wont be at the club next year....

I'm yet to see Murphy play a great game as captain.

Was Camporeale-esque tonight.

Agree. I would have preferred Carrots with Jamo as VC. Let Murph be a gun midfielder. Was a bad start to the year that decision.

The players chose the leadership group and the captain... just goes to show what they know about leadership... and what is a leader.

Give the captaincy to Brock!!!...

yes agreed -lets pick out lucas when apart from 1 or 2 the rest were deplorable - how about have a crack at Jarrad im so selfish waite or Eddie breaking someones jaw off the play - lucas was bad agreed but he had about 18 other mates
No I haven't changed when they are deplorable I call it - like I did when we lost to Richmond -tonight was completely incompetent unprofessional in all ways - yarran wasn't fit yet plays -everyone in Australia bar our coaching team thought playing 3 ruckman was going to be a problem -our best forward tall gets suspended for headbutting and misses his 6th match of the season

only one laughing tonight is Ratts who knows that these players continually let you down and they can and will do it to the messiah coach as well

I get the feeling that Malthouse has seen the writing on the wall and use this year as a transitional year. Much like Parkin in 1991. Will experiment with the team and then make the necessary decisions at the end of this year. We simply don't have the cattle and will need to build the bottom end of list to compete against the really good teams. Unfortunately, I reckon we have been set back by about 2-3 years due to some poor recruiting and player development.

Mentally weak - the whole lot of them. Always have been. Nothing has changed with a new coach. Embarrasing effort tonight and again when the opportunity arises to take the next step, we choke!!!!.
Selection's did not help though. Yarran should not have played tonight. The person who made the final decision should be sacked immediately.
Hampson must be replaced with Casboult. Enough is enough. It's also ridiculous to think Cassy, Laidler and Belly aren't playing in this team. Ridiculous.

What we missed were players refusing to put their head over the contested ball. Time and time again when the ball was at a 50/50 contest our guys refused to put the head over the ball and win it.
