Still not at all confident for this one. On paper we belt them by a fair margin. Though after our game against them early last year, I'm never confident when it comes to the Saints.

Found it funny however how the Saints are celebrating 140 years. Celebrating 140 years of what? Close but no cigar? More tragedy than a work of Shakespeare?

Hopefully the game fits their 140 years then.

Read an interesting article in the record last week though - it was suggested that the Saints have been more into celebrating individuals than collective teams - e.g Winmar, Robert Harvey, Plugger, Barker. Probably more to do with a lack of success that they've celebrated individuals...they've had some rippers.

Speaking of which, beware Nick Riewoldt. In brilliant form at the moment.

They are all about noble losses and stars.

Geelong used to be the same.

I can never imagine Geelong going back to the way they were.

All it took was the 7 years of strong performances and three flags.

StKildas performances this year and the games they have been in.. remind me of playing chicks in pool... you just cant smash them cos they just drag u down to their level etc...

im sure its not that and that theyre watching their asses as they take a shot........

theyre some of the worst games ive seen this year....

they turn the ball over all the time as shitty as we play at times.. its much better than seeing Clinton Jones kick shit ... etc etc etc

Why do I get the feeling all this 'they're shit, we'll smash them' talk is just setting us all up for a week of 'we're shit, we should have smashed them' even after a handy 4-5 goal win on Monday night (or heaven forbid even a loss)?

Having trouble with the selections especially at Etihad.

Gibbs & Waite available next week will be interesting.

However, think we will win and win easily.

Blues by 46.

Our best has been as good as the best of the better teams for awhile, but we are not one of the better teams because we don't play that way often enough.

I'm surprised at your bullishness about this game. Hope you haven't been seduced by victories over Melbourne and an injury ravaged Crows...

We don't play Etihad well and we've beaten StKilda twice in about 12 years. They are not a top 8 side, but we still have a way to go to prove that we are. We should have the edge but there's not much in it IMO.

And yes, I watched them closely against Collingwood.

It's too early for me to say we've turned the corner. This game will tell us a lot....

If we don't smash them then it will be the fault of the footy manager and lucas

Any win against the Saints is a mental step forward.

Actually I was having dinner this morning and got talking to myself and decided that for the good of the club, the players and the supporters we need to smash this drech by 100+ points ala princess park 1977 style and build a real belief that we are carlton and this time we really are coming.

Its exactly what its all about...!!!

It really is a mental thing... we have lacked the mental belief and all teams now that and back themselves to beat us.

My bullishness is based on the fact StKilda is shit!!!.. ive watched them closely all year.. and they are nothing but a paper ex tiger.

There good players are mostly no longer good.
They have some up and comers but theyre not consistent.
And they have a bunch of no names who shouldnt get a game with us.

Squeeze the life out of them.....

KILL THEM!!!!

I'd love to but we're nowhere near our best.
We're still treading water IMO. Even though we were beaten in the first three games, I thought our performances were reasonable. We havent made a lot of inroads since then.
Our kickouts are improving but we're still average in the stoppages.
We're also being cut up with our zone. West Coast scored 3 of their 7 goals from kickouts! We're fortunate they kicked atrociously.

If we look at the information from the games and not just the final scoreboard, we'll see we have a lot of work to do and a lot of improvement to come.
If we want to beat shit teams easily, we'll need to source that improvement promptly.

As I said, a 1 point win would do me at the moment.

West Coast kicked 3 goals from 17 kick outs, so our Zone set up is not too bad.

Thats it DU

This club has been tiptoeing through the tulips for way too long.. about time it started to get back some of that Carlton swagger Ratts kept talking about and went about it by tagging everything that moved ...
Id hate to see a tag on ratboy... Curnow should be running up and linking up... if ratboy wants to stay in the goal square and kick the odd goal i wouldnt mind.... but that means we will have more numbers at the contest pushing the ball thre other way more often ....

Cool. I'm the opposite. I could eat breakfast all day.

Blues by 37....which I think is the number of ex-Carlton players listed on the Saints jumper Monday night.

I guess its only a matter of time until we try to make our monogram contain the names of premiership players or something.
