Intensity and mental application, that was the difference.

Not to fussed about the result.I can see the 3 or 4 guys whom we should demand improvement from under MM all had their best games in some time.
Gibbs, Walker, Hampson, Kruz all good in the second half. For me Gibbs was our best.
I liked the role MM gave Walker. Hendo also showed signs. Kicking at goal will improve.
Levi had a shocker but I hope he gets another chance.Looked a little out of his depth early and it
just got worse. Diddo Duigan. A nervous wreck if ever i saw one.No composure.

The kid Bootsma will get better. I though he broke even on the night. I would drop Duigan before Bootsma.
Zac and Simmo were out of petrol tickets in the last.A few weak efforts. Simmo is a poor kick at goal.
Murph quiet. Yarran is soft but should have stolen it.I can forgive a skill error but he should be lifting his head and spotting his teammate.
The 50m penalty in the 3rd to take away all our momentum was appalling. It simply wasn't there.

Ambivalent?
Immovable?
Discombobulated?

The 50 against Jamison was there.

The 50 against Hampson was tough.

The 50 against Duigan was flowering ridiculous.

Obviously disappointed but early days.

Funnily enough we looked more dangerous when we were going more direct down the middle than going down the boundaries.

The 50 against Duigan was the one. We were back within 21 points midway through the 3rd.

Certainly, and short, apart from our ruck/forwards.

Liked the fightback and I am sure MM will be looking at the big picture here. Serious issues up forward and that will be our major problem. Yarran needs to have a rocket and as some one said here - grow up son. Zac and Duigan will struggle for games when Laidler and Scotland are ready to return.

He's a C..K of the highest order...soft too!

And he's laughing. He would get a game with us if he were still here.

Welcome.

But most of us here are not familiar with the phrase 'early days'.

Be interesting to see how Temay comes on the first month of VFL.

A couple of spots for the taking as the small defender.

I think this game gave us more questions than it gave us answers.

Why was Laidler left as an emergency? Duigan isn't in our best 22, hasn't been for a long time.

Is McLean going to recapture last years form or will he by passed by the likes of Bell?

Does Yarran give 100% every game? It doesn't appear so, talent only gets you so far.

Is Levi the answer up forward? Or do we pin our hopes on an unpredictable Waite?

Why was Joseph selected at all?

Really do need to take a "big picture" view of where we are going and the changes that are being made.

Anyone remember the criticsm Ross Lyon has copped in his first years at St Kilda and Freo?

You could see the hesitation in their decision making and ball use. My hope at the start of the year that we would reach half way at 7-5. If we do we will be in a very good position. I expect our second half of the year to be a heap better than our first half.

MM is also sorting out who will make it and who wont. He is also getting big games into talented kids. Bootsma will benefit hugely from tonight. MM will back kids like him in. Personally I think thats great and will benefit us in the future. It is guys like Graham, Bootsma, Menzel, Watson etc that the improvement must come.

IMO Duigan is not up to it and Tuohy is struggling. Jamison is overrated and McLean is so slow. There are others on our list that can play their roles better than them.

Good balanced post Psych. McLean was unsighted in the first half and only did something when the sting went out of the legs in the last Q and a bit. Jammo can play but always seemed frustrated and angry for most of the nite. Duigs is a shame as he added so much when we needed it two years ago, but he's faded into mediocrity and isn't a young player. Thouy was a bonus as an Irish recruit, but has now plateaued (he ain't no Kenelly).

Depending on how we are travelling after 5 (could/should be zip 5) I reckon Mick should re-build and be given a licence to do so....and that means playing the Watsons, Bells, Buckleys, Mitchells, Grahams etc. Nothing to lose, and its obvious that we are a mile off flag material. Mick is proven at re-building too.

What did Yazz do or didn't do to need a rocket? I was at the game so it is still a blur.
