Great article, couldn't agree more.

Hawthorn have been bullying us for years.

Time to stand up, Bell on the ground in the middle at the first bounce would be a good start.

Can't make a sow's ear out of a silk purse.

Of course we want the boys to be ruthless and hard at the contest, and sure we need some big hard bodies at the stoppages.

But without a significant personnel change I dont like the chances of transforming say a Josh Bootsma into a cage fighter, Mick Malthouse or not.

Still it would give me great pleasure to see Tommy Bell knock out Jordan Lewis next time we play the Hawks.... fairly of course. :smoking:

Sorry verbs, not cliche enough for you? If it helps you , "Step up" "Take a stand" or finish the implied sentence Time to stand up ( to the bullying).

Nah, just my juvenile sense of humour given the article is about mongrels.

The new sliding rule may work in favour for a team like Carlton. The soft a butter, sleek like silk team who don't want to get your shorts dirty.

This is the reason why you must play:

Bell, Robinson and to a lesser extent McLean.

Some grunt.

We have some great players but very little torque.

I am sure that MM is very aware of this issue anyway.

I cant wait to see his first selection.

Go Blues...bring the pain

Good article. Actually has formed an opinion based upon his own research, rather than simply rehashing what's said at some press conference. And has almost certainly got it right, without being a Carlton supporter.

This is what journalism should look like (a lot more often). Now if only we could get rid of the idiot ex-footballers (like Monga) and the media celebrities and supporters passing themselves off as journalists.

The last piece of the puzzle is always unleashing the mongrel.

Agree KP, (and just sent Jake an email saying the same thing). A lot of what he wrote I've been reading and writing on TC for along time. How come Ablett used to get looked after, but Judd doesn't? And so on.

Not sure though how much is a change of attitude and how much is a change of personnel. Early impressions of Gibbs this year are good ... he looks harder at it.
