Footy Classified restarts Libba's vibe-rater

The real thing here, is that apart from the match fixing/gambling situation, is that each clubs actions in 'tanking' for draft picks would be fully supported by their fans. As such, what is the issue?

How different is this from clubs outside of the finals sending players off early for surgery?

Why are we even bothering to discuss this?

On the basis that 'clubs manipulated the rules', will we have an investigation of Essendon* in the mid 80's for manipulating the 15m penalty rule ????

Its a non issue for clubs and fans, made into a mountain by Demetriou and now the AFL are dealing with the mess made by the ego maniac.

The Essendon* v Richmond game before the finals way back when is perhaps the biggest example of tanking for a single game in the history of the AFL.

Freo rested a dozen players before the finals only a few years back. Gave themselves no chance of winning.

Footy Classified is a pathetic show. Jeff K just rambled nonsense and doesn't seem to be that interested in footy. Is he the only footy supporter who was totally unaware of the Libba interview? And they conveniently failed to mention that Libba basically said noting and then disowned it all. Craig Hutchy and "Damo" are the epitome of media scum, and is there something wrong with Mathew Lloyd. he seems like a simpleton, like a character off dumb and dumber. I vow now never to watch that show again. It shows how the media feeds off itself. Jeff K made some innocuous comments about the possibility of Vlad the Impaler moving on, and somehow it becomes news! The media is pathetic and lazy. And Jeff K is rapidly becoming a media tart bozo like John Elliott.

Is the board against Duigan because they have their favourites, want to stick their nose in the footy dept (where they don't belong) or what? Getting a few old fossils up and going couldn't harm the club could it. Inject a bit of enthusiasm around the place. :smile:

Collingwood tanked, got Daisy and Pendlebury. Won the flag in 2010.
Hawthorn tanked, arguably, got a heap of kids in the mid 2000s. Won the flag in 2008.
Carlton tanked, got "three number ones, hey". Won the flag in 2013.

because we cheated on the salary cap
and not for the first time
and were warned that anymore breaches would have us cop the hamburger with the lot
the penalties and some shocking admin decisions were the reason we were so shit.

And what do we do

The reason the AFL go soft on tanking

Because as you say its hard to prove

Tanking will contin ue until the AFl devise a new draft system

Forget about what other clubs do
We are cheats and some of the morons who allowed this to happen or who were directly involved in it are still at the club which is a disgrace.

no real proof
because tanking is hard to prove
people are quick to hand it out to Libba
fact is he told Ratten that night at quarter time that Johnstone should be manned up. That was obvious yet Ratten as head coach did nothing about it. The fact that an assistant coach pointed out to the senior coach who has the final say that something should be done and he was ignored begs the question was something corrupt going on

You might have a different opinion to me but as a supporter that night I was asking myself why was this guy allowed to do what he liked. What was the motivation to not put the squeeze on him.
Whether you like it or not there was a source of motivation. To get Kreuzer if we lost.

Late in Collingwood's tanking season the Pies were 4 goals up against the Roos in time on and lost.

Pretty sure in the 13 behinds against Melbourne we hit the post 7 times.

Whitnall kicked 1.4 that night and missed some sitters. Clearly in on the 'conspiracy' rather than trying to save his career in what turned out to be his last game for Carlton.
