Should also mention that they are introducing tours of the facilities next year.

A good night. Very informal. Chatted in small groups prior to sitting around in a circle which felt a bit like an AA meeting, but it worked well. Board members present were Zac Fried and Ryan Trainor. Carlton Staff present were CFO; Jason Reddick. Brand & Sponsorship Manager; Jay Allen, GM – Consumer Business & Digital Marketing; Clinton Bown, Membership Operations Manager; Nicole Rowlings, Membership Relations Officer; Daniel Fraser, Social Media Co-ordinator; Luca Gonano and Multimedia Co-ordinator; Alison Smirnoff. All very positive, all good to talk to. Probably only about a dozen supporters present though.

I spent most of my time one on one talking with Zac and Clinton. I made Nicole aware of the Gold Coast deal. She seemed receptive to the idea of a cooler. The comments and ideas thrown around were many and varied but centered mainly on a unified message, more transparent and consistent communication and the clubs foray into increasing its involvement in digital space.

* Less 'Blueprint' than last season. Looking at once a month rather than once a week.
* Increase in podcast content with a view to having consistency throughout the week.
* A number of people in the room requested greater Northern Blues News.
* Would consider digital content as part of membership packages next year. Interstate members currently getting raw deal would benefit in particular.
* Alternate jumper looks great. White version, but with more navy blue on bottom, top and wider blue stripe on sides.
* 2014 slogan will be 'We Are The Navy Blues'. @#$%&! the rest?
* Ruffy did forums+video off own volition. No involvement from Comms Dept.
* Need 60,000 members to be able to show AFL they are too big for Etihad. Stadium negotiations begin this year. Our contract at Etihad expires at the end of the 2014 season.

There is clearly a breath of fresh air flowing through the place now that Ian Coutts is gone....(well, final day is Friday). This is a smart group of people who understand how to grow the brand at Carlton. Not being afraid to leverage outside ideas from supporters is a fantastic initiative. I would encourage those of you who had doubts to get along next time Luca sends out an invite. Thanks to Ryan and Zac and staff for their time (they all peruse this site often), the beer, finger food, books, Mars Bars and the cooler.

...nah - just joking. There was no cooler. But there might be next time!

Impressive turn out from the club. That is really positive to see.

Looks like they left a few words out from the 2014 slogan. While JohnM is right in that it's what the club does that matters more than a slogan, it's just a bit unimaginative to me.

Shame I live interstate, I would love to have attended. If there's enough notice next time I'll try and wing it, would be good just for the, erm, social aspect anyway.

Not before time.

Great to see these worthwhile changes taking place from these guys and refreshing to hear positive feedback on the capabilities of our back room staff. Keep going hard folks! It will be appreciated.

Looks like we all need to work hard to help the club reach 60K if we want the MCG to be our home.

To be honest I don't think the slogan matters all that much. In 2014 - it should be interspersed quite heavily with our 150th year celebrations and I'd like to see a logo created and put on every single thing the club does in 2014. If possible I'd also like to see it on the jumper - similar to what the Swans have with SMFC on the back of their jumper. They'll need AFL approval for that, so I hope they're a step ahead in that regard.

This year the Boston Red Sox created a simple - but effective logo to celebrate 100 years of Fenway Park. They put it on every single piece of communication in the lead up to, and during the season. Done properly - it works.

SWEEEET CAROLIIIIIINE !!!!!!!

now there is an idea we can steal from a Boston team (the logo idea - not sweet caroline, though i do love that song !)

The I AM we stole from the celtics is no good

this though, is good.

As long as they dont do something stupid like

VISY PARK
150 YEARS

Not a Red Sox fan, but this is true. Their Comms team is pretty good though. Should ave also mentioned that Clinton Bown and Nicole Rowlings are off to Disneyland on a study tour to learn more about customer service and hopefully get some ideas about how they can incorporate those into Carlton. Disney do customer service better than most.

That was mentioned too. There will undoubtedly be closed sessions, but in all likelihood there will be fewer of them. Ratts got a bit paranoid toward the end. There'll be regular and more consistent updates regarding training times.

Now you're being facetious, Synbad. Time to direct the angst and dissatisfaction through the proper channels. By all means air your grievances out on TC, but you have much to contribute...

...Synbad, you do not yet realize your importance. You have only begun to discover your power. Join me, and I will complete your training. With our combined strength, we can end this destructive conflict and bring order to the galaxy.

And if they don't, that's one hell of a bubble they're living in.

Enough lip service.

They actually are a bit in a bubble and are trying to get out of it. And I think they are serious this time. I've got an invite for a coffee from the GM Membership to elaborate on some points I raised. I think they are trying now.

I agree with this too. I'm in Sydney thus week so I couldn't attend the function but Will got in touch with my wife yesterday (by phone) and personally invited the whole family to training next week. Given the shemozzle last time, good move. They do seem to be trying - I'll give em that.

And given rhe noise we've all been making, I tend to agree with Doc that we should at least meet them half way.

...and that's half the reason I attended last night. Luca rang and personally invited me down. Told me what it was all about and who'd be there. That goes a long way in my book.
