Welcome to TC, Luca.

Unfortunately, I'm on a plane at 6.30 this Tuesday so won't be able to make it. Doing the Mel-Syd run constantly at the moment. I applaud the initiative though. Having a robust social media strategy is important (more important is having the leaders of the organisation realizing that they need to become customer-centric. The best comms strategy in the world will fail if the club hierarchy still believes in the old control/push model).

As others have said, it's not about videos from Arizona. It's about how a club can make its members/customers feel a sense of ownership of the brand. Stickers saying I AM CARLTON aren't enough

I hope the session is valuable for all.

Yasoo Luca and welcome,

First of all what a great idea.

I hope i represent all those who live outside of Melbourne and dont have the opportunity to get
up and personal with the Carlton faithful.

I Live on the Victorian - NSW Border on the Murray and I personally rely on Carlton Social Forums
and Digital social media.

I need to get on everyday and check out all things Carlton to stay in touch at whats happening down at
the club.

Any way that this could be be improved would be fantastic !!

Look forward to hearing some feedback on the outcome of this meeting.

Thanks to all those who have called to express their interest in attending tomorrow night's Social Gathering at the University Hotel in Lygon Street.

We still have a few spots available, so if you'd like to attend, please give me a call at any stage today or tomorrow. My number is 0415 772 773.

Looking forward to meeting a few of you tomorrow night!

Luca @ CFC.

Get on it folks! It would be a shame to see spots go to waste.

If anyone else out there can get along, please do so.

We've waited for an opportunity for the club to engage with supporters, we should support it when they do.

I've got something on tomorrow, so not sure if I can attend.

Who's going at this stage?

An interesting note on Comms/social media today. Sent the Club a tweet wondering why, when every member should be receiving an e-mail regarding Judd stepping down as captain, we instead received an email about free postage at the shop...queried their priorities and was told that "Carlton Access" members received an email, whereas "for everyone else it's on the website."

So what's this "Carlton Access" membership? For mine this is an important event that every member should have been emailed about, not just some upper-tier member. A comms issue but again more importantly, a membership issue. Can someone please discuss this at the evening? I don't believe ANY Carlton-related info should be on a 'need to know' basis in regards to membership levels. What next, do I have to read the Hun or sportsnewsfirst.com.au to get who the new captain is, or is does my level of membership give me access to that sort of information?

For anyone who doesn't know - the Carlton Access membership costs $50. It's marketed as 'Get the scoop on the latest Club news 24 hours before anyone else with this access all areas online membership. You'll get the first look at all Carlton Coach's videos, plus VIP access to exclusive digital content.'

So people aren't really paying for content. They're paying for content before that content is released for free. I understand it - English Premier League clubs have been doing this for years and throughout the year they'll offer incentives to get you to buy other content. It's called 'microtransactions'. e.g In April, I pay $3.99 to have 'time-limited access content' to view Tom Alvin get his haircut on Rathdowne St.

In many ways - this is the crux of people's argument. For all intent and purpose we understand the bubble surrounding the football department - but this can create a bubble around the whole club. Not something anyone wants. It's understanding your market. This isn't Europe. You want a revenue driver for digital content? Create another ad-supported site. Otherwise in my lifetime - there'll be a soft paywall enacted for me to view the Carlton website.

I'll be happy to quiz them on this Scotty. I think they're experimenting with different models where they can package digital content in. It's far from perfect, and they need to have something - but members would probably prefer this be in their membership extras than a cap...or an apron. It would probably be a winner to include this for interstate members.

Thanks Doc for the info and for 'flying the flag' on my and other interstate members' behalf. Your suggestion about having Carlton Access immediately included as an incentive for interstate packages is a good one - I don't know if I'm missing out on that much but the gesture probably gives more than is actually there - "We want our interstate members to feel connected, so here's complimentary access to get info 24 hours earlier." Shows value in us, even if the value of the service isn't massive in the end.

I liken it to my 'Get Brad Fisher to 100 games' stance from a few years back 'because he could have children with Serena Williams and produce a Bo Jackson type, once-in-a-lifetime athletic specimen that could lead Carlton to the promised land'. We could look after our interstate supporters a bit better as one day there could be a Scotty1200 Jnr who turns into the next Steve Jobs and all of a sudden we have an 'Apple-like' sponsorship in perpetuity. It's really not that far fetched when you think about it.

You still want me there Dane?
