I have no problem with what Brock said. It was an organised media conference and the club had to know that the subject of Judd's captaincy would be raised. They know Brock calls it as he sees it and were happy to have him represent the club. There would have been plenty of others they could have wheeled out had they chosen to. As for comments such as 'Brock should know his place'. Herein lies the problem with our team / club. For a team / club to be successful there can be no pecking order or pedestals. No player or administrator should be immune from critique. All voices and opinions should be valued.

I dont see anything wrong with what Brock said. Just stating his opinion.

It doesnt destabalise the Club one bit. At the end of the day, he players will vote in the Captain and the Leadership Group like they do every year.

What Brock did or didnt say wont change that.

Reckon some people on here need that spoon full of concrete!

This.

McLean being so forthright is one of his better qualities IMO.

Dees supporters might disagree there

When you watch the video and get a better understanding for the context in which McLean's comments were made it's clear there's nothing sinister or disrespectful at play.

Nothing to see here.

Have a look at the headlines in the papers since his interview camel.
You read into it what you want to read and I'll have my take on it.
The headlines say it all IMO.

Are the headlines taking Brock's comments out of context? Then that's my point. He's feeding them, and should know better. I

I enjoyed his interview, and enjoyed watching him play, but there's no need for his last comments in that interview. Not rubbish, just my preference.

As I posted earlier, I would have preferred him to say that the club these days is blessed with good leadership, and anyone in the leadership group would make a good captain of the club...as opposed to him suggesting Judd should drop the captaincy....which was basically an inference that the captaincy had a detrimental effect on his form.....now that's where the rubbish lies.

No I haven't seen any comments by Brock McLean regarding Prince William or Kate Middleton. How about a link hoolio32???

This is your 5th post about Brock McLean in a career total of 6, all of them negative. Got a barrow push hey hoolio???

This has got nothing to do with who should be captain of Carlton.

The current captain is Chris Judd, and to have a current player suggest publically who else could/should be captain is disrespectful and undermining.

Now if Judd has already told McLean and others that he is stepping down (and they may know this) then well and good. But if the decision hasnt been made then this puts the current captain in a difficult position, knowing that one of his team-mates would prefer others. It is not good.

Some things need to be kept quiet until the decision is made.

This issue has nothing to do with Chris Judd and everything to do with 100% support for the current captain.

Have to agree.

One of the better voices we have on the field along with Carrazzo and Laidler.

harks im with u on Laidler... hes a real MM smokey.... the question is his knee...

I wouldnt be pissed off if its Brock too... if he can hold his spot in the side that is....

Best players dont always make the best captains.

Correctamundo....

At least that's a more reasoned response.

Ultimately the media is making heaps more out of it, as they always do, especially in the off-season. So I do understand your point about him feeding the media's hysteria.

But really, the story has been simmering along for a few weeks now it's not as if Brock was the first person to mention Juddy stepping down. You're right he probably could have shared his opinion using better words, but I still don't have any real concerns over what he said or what has followed.

What concerns me is that Judd's hand is being forced now. How would it look if he wants to keep it?

Perhaps Brock should just concern himself with himself (both on field and off field) :banghead:

These guys know each other much better than we ever will........would expect this to have been socialized already amongst a bunch of mates who spend their time together

Let's keep some perspective here...we are primarily punters watching from the stands

..with the amount of media surrounding this for months now, i highly doubt he has any intention of retaining the captaincy.. ..hell, he's never been truely comfortable with it anyway..

Who cares really? Without a group of leaders taking our team by the scruff of the neck, we won't achieve anything.

I don't doubt they know his intentions but it's not respectful to publicly speculate. At least the coaches say things like if he wants it he would retain it and go no further.

Brock, you have given us half a season in 3 years - worry about doing that than speculating on who may or should be our next captain

Its well known that Brock tells it as he says it.
If the club doesnt want him giving an opinion, why put him up for media conferences?

Why must Judy McLean step down? What has she done?
