There is an interview with MM (recorded today) on the CFC site. MM said that he is quite happy with the list and the clubs activity in the free agency and trade market will be minor.

I think we will still go after a KPP if we can get the player at a reasonable price. Happy if we don't participate in stupid bidding wars.

Synbad must be beside himself with MM giving a tick to the recruiting dept for putting that list together.
I'm pretty happy with the list as well fwiw. Just a few tweaks, a good run with injuries, getting the players' attitude where it needs to be so they play good footy every week and 'voila'. We are on the way.

I think micks philosophy is to build and invest in your own players unless you can find a good deal somewhere ala luke ball. look at the deals so far the players are very average. lynch for us would be good , costs us nothing (apart from $$$) and we know at least he is an average player. You hear that richmond has offered chaplin a 4 year deal - that is just insane!

Just reading the Fev book and getting his insight Into the playing group under Den Den. Anybody fearing a repeat of the Pagan scenario under Malthouse can rest easy. Their people management skills and tactical nouse are eons apart.

If you ask me this is Mick's first big mistake he has allowed the Carlton list to suck him in just as Ratten did last year . When you stand on the outside and look in you wonder how on earth you are going to cram all them players into 22 - all on their day can produce unbeliverable football but they can also all go mising just as quick .

2011 was far better than 2010 - I think the reason for that was the introduction of Laidler and Duigan they added something to the side that was missing - 2012 was a dissappointment until we introduced Casboult and Bell -

Carlton needs to go out and find a couple of players to add to the mix if we go to the draft bring in 3 or 4 18 year olds like we did last year where is the improvement going to come from

Mick sounds like you have done what all of us has done from time to time and said look at all these stars they will win 5 flags in a row. But you have been fooled Mick suckered in like the rest of us

..not sure dude, papa maltz is a very good coach, he will extract everything we've got.. ..prior, we've been incompetent in this regard.. ..we looked the best we have last season cos the players 'bought' into the game style/philosophy.. ..otherwise the past few seasons we've lacked structures and systems and it's shown.. ..and player morale not being where it ought/needs to be..

..this is why a change of coaching departments can have such a profound effect on a list with minimal changes to said list.. ..we've seen this time and time again in footy..

So if he's relatively happy why did we chase Cloke? If we have a weakness in the forward line why aren't we chasing a key forward???

I read it as he is backing himself in to get the most from every player on the list. Then at seasons end, he'll evaluate who he wants to keep and who he doesn't.

We were chasing Cloke because he's a gun forward. No other guns available, esp free agency

Nope he has fallen for the old sucker punch here - I do it every year - try pick the best 22 but there are so many guns on the list you can't fit them all in . Who needs Cloke we have Cazza - Waite and Hammer and if Warnock gets fit Kruez can play forward - Injury free run and come september next year we will be all sucking down crownies singing dadada da

Did he say we weren't chasing a key forward?
Minimal list movement doesn't mean no list movement.

Also thought the interview was good.

Depth of experience, willingness to learn from his media year, focus on culture, single purpose, its all good.

Big Kev as far as I am concerned.

He's hardly going to come out and say our list needs an overhaul. First, sends panic and gives a negative message to the Club and players, and second, if they don't manage to land some trades (which, let's face it, are bloody hard to do, even if you find someone you want), then what does that say about the state of the Club?

We need to keep a couple of things in mind:

1. Clubs and their employees lie - all the time. Just because someone says something, doesn't mean it's the truth. Coaches and CEOs and Presidents will trot out the standard lines to suit their needs. What happens behind the scenes may be entirely different.

2. 99% of rumours we hear in trade week are crap. It's fun to speculate, and toss around the rumours, but don't get into a tizzy because so-and-so was coming to us but I don't want him and now he's going there and why didn't we get him and why doesn't anyone want to play for us and yada yada...
