Colourman.. than Melbourne is indeed the frontrunner.. but he might not choose to play for Melbourne...if its just money...
Personally i hope we dont get him....
@John M ... our salary cap management isnt flash... though with some tradeoffs we can afford someone goodish..
How does a club like Carlton who has never done anything of note have a full salary cap???

Don't forget if we draft Lynch under free agency, then we get nothing for Russell or Thornton. Maybe that is something we cannot afford to do for strategy reasons.

1-1 ratio I would've thought?

Yes it is 1:1. But I would not want that ratio to be against Russell as we may get more for him than Thornton maybe..

Bolton Jack to name 2 and Okeefe was playing a lock down role smith another and Mcveigh always plays a run with role
Not only that they are chock full of HBF
Mattner Richards Grundy Malceski johnson bird shaw

Everything you have ever stated that what is required to win a flag was turned upside down yesterday as they are the exact opposite of everything you suggest
Do they tank - no
Do they tag - yes
Do they have a lot of HBF -yes
Do they have a KPF - no
Do they support their veteran players - yes
Does their president realise that winning improves the bottom line more than having top administrators - yes
Did they need to bring in a experienced coach - no
Did they go through a process to select a coach - no

So basically yesterday the swans showed you talk shit

Also I might add they prefer to play at a smaller SCG to gain a home ground advantage than the larger ANZ stadium which is available to them every week

Carlton is so far from these 2 clubs its not funny! We don't have the fanatical desire and determination to fight that hard and for that long. We just waltz around thinking it will just happen. Took the swans two years to become contenders. We've been treading water for five!

Do they have a midfield yes

So they run both ways yes
Do they have hbfers as their main draft gets? no
Do their coaches get a grounding before theyre arllowed to coach? yes..
Do they tag? no.... not like we did.... who tags ????......

they play man on man footy.... and attack as much as they defend....
Who is their president??? was he an ex footballer who has no idea???

They did go through a pprocess. and thought what they had could do the job.... they didnt bring a guy cold in from suburban footy...

and no they havent tanked yet...cos they were near the top when clubs were tanking.....tanking isnt an option anymore... but will be one day for them too...

But they will bounce straight back up... they wont be having aims.. like "home final".. and they wont be about "give it to the champ".... and "statistics till the cows come home"

in short theyre a better operation ac ross the board than we are....but you were happy with the way the club was going sydney... now youre picking holes in it....

Why?

What changed???

They are full of recycled players from other clubs , they give up draft picks for rubbish from elsewhere
They are the exact opposite of everything you have ever said

Im not saying that Carlton are the same Im saying that everything you have ever said carlton needs to do the swans do the exact opposite

Carlton created a void 10 years ago when Pagan came in and pushed all the older players out and put the clubs fate into the hands of Fev
The culture was set then and it hasnt changed since
We are soft and thats all there is to it
Doesnt matter who coaches unless to can teach hardness we wont go anywhere
West Coast eagles best outside players is now our best inside player
We play guys like curnow and Ellard when our best inside mid plays in the 2s

Yes but a smaller ground means ull learn to contest the football as its fought in close... none of this relying on playing outside.

So in fact it helps them for the ultimate success.

We like the big G and hate the dome cos in the dome theres less room.... but in a final u dont get given room.. like we wernt given room and space this year.....

Bottom line we didnt develop a team of competitors did we .. 5 years under Ratts ..... and 6 games too...

We were never going to win a flag with him.....

Give him ten years.. the result would have been the same... and Parkin would be telling is he was a better coach in his 10th year thn he was in his 9th

Averaged close to the same amount of clearances/contested possessions at WC as at Carlton.

Who is our best inside mid that plays in the 2s?

Why wouldn't we have considered Leigh Tudor as senior coach? Look at the clubs he has worked at.

For a while I thought this thread was about MM but I see it's about what a crap job Ratts did, what a crap board we have, what crap recruiters we have, what crap culture we have, what crap decision making processes we have and how we are crap at everything in between.

In other words, it's just the same as every other thread.

Time to get this thread back on topic. It's about Malthouse and discussions about coaching are fine but this thread is not about Kernahan's presidency or the board. Stay on topic please.

Malthouse is here to undo 5 years of crapola... and dont let anybody forget it!!!...
He wouldnt be here if everything was going nicely......
.... and he has alot of stuff to get right... if you watched yesterdays GF and what we are about for the last whatever years..

It is on topic...

I cant help .....BS ...... cant .....join...the...dots......

Never have i come across people that moan so much about what other people write and say its not on the topic....

Imagine another year of what we were doing??......

Malthouse has his work cut out for him.... lazy players... lazy attitude.. insipid culture.. and a list thats totally askew from whats required...

Everything we need to do is a legacy of everything we havent done.. and MM has to get it right in 3 years....!!!

That granny made me sick.... Swannies??? who would have thought????

Well drilled.. great application... amazing sacrifice... x factor??? not that much.... personal brilliance??... not over the top.
