Arizona competition is a good idea I'll happily raise I with those I know.

Have a great day.

Can someone post a photo of the letter or something? I haven't received one yet. When I upgraded to Captains Club I requested i keep my original seats in the gold football section and they were fine with that so I hope I'm not effected?

The letter is asking Gold members to upgrade to Captains Club, and if we dont do that then they will re locate us to another area (probably level 3). As you are already a Captains club it shouldnt impact on you.

I phoned the club yesterday and asked if they can tell me where my new seats will be located before I pay my membership and they said they cant do that.

The membership manager was nice enough to call us today. He explained that we are sitting in the premium areas, and captains club members are not. This is the reason for the re-zoning, which is sad for us loyal members but also understandable.

The good thing is that we will still get moved to different bays on level one, but they will be next to the point post and the 50 metre arc.

We told him that also part of the reason we were upset is the lack of information and options on the letter, and how this phone call and email could have been avoided.

They need to find way of making money, and unfortunately some of us will be hurt in the process.

Its all good, I am glad they acknowleded us and did not sweep it under the carpet.

Thanks for the feedback drewgirl, although not your preferred outcome, at least you got some reasonable response from the club.

Yep thats it. I want Carlton to make money as well, but they need to show some respect to their members like they want back from us. Warm and Fuzzy and all that.

I am happy with their response.......

Thanks for the update, at least someone called you to explain things. But as you said a better worded letter would have avoided this somewhat. I am a silver member so i dont have any seats to worry about. Lets hope all members get on board again next year, plus some others who havent rejoined in recent years.

We'll see. I'll decide in January. Probably about 30/70.

We all remember this being discussed last year, but the principle is extremely important.

I love the symbolism of the I AM CARLTON marketing strategy. It appeals to me. Ownership, inclusion, bonding and involvement designed to help supporters embrace and feel that WE ARE AS ONE.

But the expensive advertising and marketing pitch has to be backed up with tangible efforts to make supporters feel valued and AS ONE with the club. The membership department in particular has to lift its game to ensure that every contact it has with supporters reflects the I AM CARLTON idea. They are miles off from doing this, and seem to court further alienation every time they open their big mouth.

Very few if any members buy memberships to save money at the gate. It is usually an emotional decision to buy a membership not a pragmatic or financial one. I only purchased one membership this year (for my son) rather than 3 because I was so pissed off with them from last years off season. I am an MCC member and can use a friends medallion club seats at Etihad so I dont really need the memberships at a practical level. Except for one most pragmatic reason, and the reason I have bought high level memberships for many many years, a grand final ticket when we are there.

The marketing gurus simply need to review every aspect of the clubs communication strategy including the tone and wording of every email to ensure that we feel included and as one.

I want to throw money at them, I'm like an addict I really do, just don't give me a reason not to, and give me some reason to feel half OK about it.

Great post Rick.
Many excellent points.
I'm a CC member for the reason you stated. Access to GF tickets.
I just hate hearing about long standing members, or volunteers, being treated poorly.
Could not agree more, that the membership dept needs a shake up.
While we are in a re building phase, maybe we can work on re engaging members at every level.

I have been a Gold Member for years and moved to Level 3 at Etihad and Level 2 at the G and the view is great, I actually prefer it to level 1.

too confusing, i already am a captains carlton member for pure reason i would be guaranteed a GF ticket. been this type of member forever. my reserved seats are level 1 and 3 resepctively for home and away. for home games that arent ticketed i dont even use my reserved seat cos we have a general area of 3 bays,. so now they are trying to suck more people into captains club., i wonder how they can guarantee another 1.2,3 or 5000 people a GF ticket . i would def hate to miss out of we get there cos there arent enough tickets and someone as a new captain club member gets one. would seem unfair

On that loyalty track,
I was thinking, it would have been good if all the members who got that letter, were offered a half price discount for their first year of changing to CC.

If it's going to be a problem springsteen, it would be nice if they rewarded long term membership, with 1st dibs at GF tickets. Or maybe, an extra chance for every member year, if they have to do a draw?

They wonder why they cant get to 50,000 members!!!, continually dicking the payed up members around. I have a Family membership at captain club level which has three separate seat locations so my children cannot sit with parents who are also seated separately. i have tried to get this fixed for the past three season with no luck. i am a twenty year plus member and if i have no luck sorting it out this year its good bye for this member!!!!!
