C'mon CB one of the reasons I stopped posting that every time I tried to argue a positive point I got verbally gangbanged by the 'doomers' and after a loss it was even worse. And when you have a go back they went sooking. Some posters I read with interest because althought I might disagree have a least put some thought into what they say. Others just use the Tony Abbott method which is repeative catch phrases and slogans that don't stand up to scutiny. Or they do a complete rewrite of history which even more frustrating.

Comment taken on board and was in part what prompted today's global announcement (of course, also noting the verbals were being fired from both bows).

That said I will sad to see Ratts go, but I am also keen to see what Malthouse does with the playing group. Just wonder how long before the same people who called for Ratts head will also strat calling for Micks head. I give it no longer than our first loss next year.

not sure what tomorrow brings but would love the crowd the chance to give Ratts a standing O on the weekend. It has ended up as it has but all must appreciate the effort

Claims an offer won't be made to Malthouse until next week.

Interestingly the article also claims Sticks and Swann are under pressure. They may both deserve that scrutiny, but you'd reckon Swann wouldn't go if Malthouse arrives.

Unless we want to re-Pagan things.

Ratts is set to earn $550K next year. That's more than some earn throughout their entire professional life. He is also almost guaranteed an assistant coaching gig at another club and will probably command $250-300K.

The smarter ones on here picked it might end up this way right at the very beginning.

Even at minimum wage you earn more than $550k in an average life time. Well over.

Just saying...

Hard to imagine a new coach being appointed while the Prez AND CEO are replaced. One has to stay at least. Hopefully it's Swann.

I still dont see it. Can someone set me straight?
We have a 59 year old man who coached for 16 consecutive years without a premiership at the 2 best resourced clubs in the AFL.
He was a balls bounce away from defeat in the 2010 GF by a team that has half the talent of Collingwood IMO.

He was given the flick by his most recent team because they believe he is finished. He is a self confessed control freak and all reports from his ex assistant coaches indicate he is a fruit cake who refuses to have his position reviewed.

Yet we will sign this bloke up without interviewing all the best young candidates out there. :?
Surely a Scott Burns or Mark Williams are worth interviewing?
Havent we learnt anthing from the Pagan situation?
Surely if Malthouse is the best option, he shouldnt be afraid of going through an interview process with other suitable candidates.

What am I missing?

Only his relationship with our CEO and 2 years of planning.

Swann is struggling for credibility as our CEO and he's now picking our coach?

Why Swann? What has he achieved in 5 years? Relative to other clubs our membership is way down. Why didn't we get over 50,000 members this year? Is it the marketing department? Is it the membership department? Both report to Swann.

What is our debt? Shouldn't a CEO be concentrating on reducing debt?

Jeez i ask a lot of questions. I wish somebody in charge of Carlton would answer them.

Just listening to Robert Walls on the radio. Has become very bitter and his reasoning is poor.

Obviously something more to this. :?

Stats that suit his argument have been rolled out for weeks.

He hates Malthouse, it's that simple IMO.

Seems we never learn
I cannot see even why they are interested myself
This will all end in tears again

It wouldnt surprise me at all Brad.
Its all part of the powerplay that unfortunately exists at weak and poorly led clubs. Vacuums are created too easily and the most devious seize their opportunity when it is created.
Its a good way for Swann to make himself credible and relevant.

Whether its in Carltons best interest is secondary.
