Precisely why we need an established KPF. Cloke is available.

Imagine a forwardline that reads:

Garlett Waite Walker
Betts Cloke Armfield/Robinson (typical negating role)

Betts with his 40-50 goals a year
Cloke with 40-50 goals a year
Garlett with 25-30 goals a year
Keep Waite on the park for 3/4s of the season and he will kick 30 goals a year
We all know walker can kick 50 in a year (probably won't due to not being the main target, but another 25 goals from him would be handy)

Looks like a pretty potent forwardline to me.

Oh and Casboult rotating.

Forwardline depth.

Its a very big gamble however I think if we have a new coach, or Ratten stays, and whoever it is say that to be successful we have to have a centre half forward and the only one available is Cloke then it is fait accompli the club will move heaven and high water to get him for whoever may be coach. If we can get him as a restricted free agent and still retain our early draft picks he may be the missing part of the jigsaw. Are there any other centre half forwards available?

You may have to pay over the top to get a free or restricted agent but that is the cost of not developing your own. The main issue if we paid that much for him will be that we have to move on a couple of players (either retirement trade or delistings) to make room in the salary cap but that may be the price for success.

Since he's turned his back on his team and all, to you know ... chase money. Throw in his current team could win a flag/s over the next seasons or two?

Therefore ... Money is more important to Cloke, than his team and winning.

There's a red flag.

That's just one very high profile example of his alarming inconsistency.

We've already got a bloke who can take a mark and is just as good at goal kicking and he's be costing us under $100K. Then there's Waite.

And relying on Waite to play 23 games+ without injury is as worthy as relying on Cloke to provide anything resembling consistency.

Yes, he tries hard.
Yes, he is strong.
Yes, he is massively overrated.
No, he will never, ever be worth $1,000,000 per season.
Ever!

Let alone offering that promise for five years.

2013 – $1,000,000
2014 – $1,000,000
2015 – $1,000,000
2016 – $1,000,000
2017 – $1,000,000

Not to mention the money grabbing attitude that comes with the Cloke clan.

Yeah Scottie, I wasn't making a generalisation about players having big pay days and not performing. But he's a cloke and he's got runs on the board. All the reports are collingwood have had it up to their eyeballs dealing with his dad.
