Stanton was invisible and never got his hands on it. Jobe wasnt much better, especially in the 2nd.
... from where I was, it looked more like run-with roles, but get your own ball, then it was outright tagging and taking them out of the game at the expense of winning your own ball. It looked like a team performance to keep them quiet, than any one individual. At stoppages Carrots would take Jobe, other times go to stanton. Go look at the tape.
Gibbs thrown into the middle and told to win his own ball, isn't a big positive step in the right direction?
Its no different to the other games. Carrazzo and Curnow have still been winning their own ball, even though they've been accountable for an opponent.
As for who takes who at the stoppages, its no different to any other games. The players mix and match, depending on where the opposition player starts. As long as the targettted player is being bodied up, its irrelevant who does it.
As for Gibbs, he's had plenty of opportunities to win his own ball. Its only yesterday that he started to do it. Unfortunately I suspect he's similar to Goddard. They've become so familiar with playing behind the ball, they have to learn how to become a contested ball winner again.
But to suggest Ratten suddenly changed his philosophy and let the players free wheel is incorrect. Our structures and methodology were very similar to past weeks. Its just that the players are playing better footy due to numerous reasons. Not the least, several are gaining some form from getting continuity in their footy.
