It's not the number of rucks we have, but the lack of balance that they currently give to the list.

Hampson, Kreuzer, Warnock and Jacobs are/were all 1st ruck, best 22, similar age so effectively we had 4 guys in similar stages of their career competing for 1 spot.

None of them are at this stage hybrid fwd/rucks, so cant play a Cox/NicNat/Ryder/Tippett/Ottens etc role. There is some chance that Hampson/Kreuzer might be able to work this, but not sure where that leaves Warnock.

None of them are 2nd stringers that would be happy to be sitting on a list for depth playing 10-12 games a year ala a Wood/Seaby/Hudson/Brogan/Stephenson/Pyke/Griffin etc etc type

None are developing kids that get the odd game here and there when needed but will stay on the list for a) depth, but more importanly b) the hope that one day they will get the number one gig ala a Longer, Lycett etc.

Again it's probably hyprocritical for us to claim to be innovative, yet on the other hand point to other clubs as an example of what we should be doing but there is no other club that has/had a ruck set up/structure to their list that compares to the one that we are currently rolling with.

..plenty of clubs have had surplus rucks at the same time over the years, and said players walk.. ..our supposed rarity is actually keeping all the rucks together on the 1 list.. ..losing jacobs, but retaining 3 prime rucks is the rarity i would have thought..

..edit -- i think for us, it's just as much of an issue in regards to our ability to not keep any of the rucks on the park for more than a limited time.. ..Krooz has been the only one to rack up games week in week out, and it's not doing him any favours.. ..general body issues over the 3 rucks keeps any of them from getting that required consistency to fast-track their development.. ..rucks seem to need not just the time on ground factor to come good, but also the week in week out consistency to jump fwd..
