Yarran just needs 1.

I'm expecting the players to get beat up early, to get a run on once the heat is out the game and make the score semi-respectable, supporters to rip into the coach and the players to largely ignore the umpteenth example of how far away their effort is from the top sides.

We look short. Not surprising seeing as most our main injuries are to talls.
Roughead had been our Nemesis more so than Buddy in recent years, so I expect him to have his day out.
Rioli is like Garlett in that he doesn't get it as much as he should but when he does, anything can and usually does, happen.

The keys to this game are three.
1. Backs to play above their height against a three-pronged tall attack.
2. Judd to have a good game and drag the other mids with him.
3. Hampson and Kreuzer have to hold their marks and then finish.

I believe the players have forgotten how to play as a unit and are dispirited and it shows in their drop in skills.

If Yarran is fit, he will put on a clinic this week after the bad press he has had. I hope he gets a chance to play further up the ground. I also hope Walks gets a chance to play deeper.

I tipped the Hawks in our tipping comp this week. Second time for the year after last week. I want to be wrong but if we lose, and I think we will, I hope the MC puts the cue in the rack and gets ready for next year. We are playing an elim final every week from tonight.

Agree. We badly need one of Kreuzer / Hampson to lift to the next level as a marking forward. And then kick straight. Not asking for much...

Hoping for a big game from Betts.

Betts needs to mark all that comes his way....plus he needs to nail every single impossible shot from the boundary....and we need 1AW to do the unbelievable....and then we might get close....barring the impact of injuries and of course the umps....

B Duigan Jamo Tuohy
HB Bootsma Watson McInnes
C Simpson Robinson Armfield
HF Kerr Mitchell Buckley
F Collins Walker Betts
R Hampson Judd Carrazzo
IT Dale Bell Lucas Ellard

For what its worth

Kreuzer clearly injured
Gibbs too soft
Yarran too soft and doesnt give a @#$%&!
Garlett been shit
Warnock is shit full stop
McLean is shit
I have thrown Mitchell in simply because he is the only proper big key forward on our list that can play
Kerr why would you keep a guy on a list for 2.5 years and not give him a game. Promoting him might bring the best out of him particularly given the Hyde situation
McInness deserves a game on form
So does Dale
Bell havent checked that he is injured or not but would mostly likely provide inside grunt which we desperatley need
Collins based on what he has shown simply deserves a game
I would like Lucas to play as well. Scotland has been ok but he is nearing the end.

Of course this wouldnt happen. But I have stated some reasons why players should be picked and why some shouldnt
The trouble is the MC go to the other extreme and are too conservative.

Have you actually seen Mitchell play?
He moved like a glacier last week and simple marks went straight through his hands.
The kid is coming back from continuous serious injuries and the last thing he needs is to be exposed further by throwing him into the AFL. Leave him where he is and let him regain some confidence in his body and some consistent form.

I'm the last person to defend the MC but calling them conservative for not throwing a kid to the wolves is ridiculous.

I'm starting to agree. I did my tips a month ago for the rest of the season and tipped the Blues to win by 5. I changed that today.

Is it wrong that although I want us to win, I won't be shattered if we lose? Because I know that sneaking into 8th, maybe snatching one finals win, and then rolling out the old "bad year for injuries" will paper over some massive cracks.

yes, very wrong, well maybe ok not to be shattered, but how badly do you want us to win?

Trust me, I want us to win. Hate Hawthorn (but begrudging respect), and too many years watching the Blues to ever want us to lose.

Never want us to lose, but if they do win it probably raises more questions than answers.
If true that the coach has lost the players will a win mean that the players have decided to pull their fingers out?or does it mean that the MC and coach have found a solution to the issues that have caused five losses from six games?
I hope we win but can't see how it can happen.

I'm the same. Assuming that tonight goes as expected (Hawthorn beating the shit out of us) 2012 is a write-off for me, and I look forward to an (overdue) intensive, independent review of the whole club, and changes to ensure this club becomes what Dick Pratt wanted it to be when he first put "the best people" in charge.

What I want more than anything else is for the players and officials to get their shit together of their own accord, rise above this and end the year on a high. More likelihood of the Titanic docking in NY harbour at this stage though.

I'm the same too.

I'd love a win,.............. but all a win is going to do is disguise the fact that there are some serious issues at this club.

Maybe we limp into the finals and have the media world show us some respect for making it despite injuries. Maybe we even win a final and all is ok. But next year and beyond is going to suck majorly because we hid from our troubles rather than addressing them when we had the chance.
