The question is how does Adelaide overtake us?
Why does StKilda flatten us?
Make no mistake .. were not a hell of a lot better than Melbourne right now and were going down like a lead balloon
You forgot Essendon* and West Coast. Time for the boys to hit the weights room in the off season as we simply get out-bodied.
Didn't the Dick "fund raising" gigs and the new ground renovations give us an "elite" gym, comparable to the best in the AFL?? So why the flower do we have these teams still monstering us? Any real muscle definition with Bower, Gibbs, Robbo, Garlett, Lucas etc?? Mystifying. Honestly, it was men v boys y'day and Crows have had this over us for years, too.
BTW, there has been too much negativity towards Zach Tuohy around here lately. Sure, his form has dropped off, but he means it out there and a pre-season or two can only help his endurance, too. This guy's our future, he could be the hard body mid we will need in the next few years, has all the skill and attitude in spades.
I am only speculating here but it appears to me that the Carlton conditioning staff have prepared our players for a game plan based more on endurance running than on physical confrontation. Their frames are lighter because they have been trained and prepared differently. Some other teams have prepared for a different game plan and players body shapes highlight that. IF we could get the ball out of those stoppages into the wide open spaces and expose all those hulking/tiring gorillas for pace and fitness we would look like geniuses, be winning by 200 pts every week and everyone on here would be laughing at the gym junkies from the other teams. Unfortunately we forgot that we have to get the ball out to the runners in the 1st place so instead our highly tuned runners are just being smashed stupid at stoppage after stoppage. Other teams have been through the match tapes, seen a weakness and put some time into stopping us playing the game on our own terms. F1 cars are awesome and will leave a Landcruiser in their wake on a track. If you have to get through a swamp to get to the track in the 1st place, despite track times, the Landcruiser will smash the F1 car every time!
