And Ellard had the highest tackle count on the ground.

Sometimes getting the pill isn't as important as stopping the opposition.

If Armfield is fit then you'd have to keep him in.

I reckon one of Army's greatest strengths aside from his speed in the fact he can be played in multiple positions. He can be put in the back line against a player like Milne, put in the midfield either as a tagger or as a midfield option, on the wings using his speed or in the forward line as we have seen before as his defensive pressure is very good and the fact he can kick a goal or two. We really need players in the side who can be used in more ways the one on the ground.

Army would have to be one of the best set of steak knives ever to pull on a Carlton guernsey.

Monday game, so fair chance more resting may occur.

May look at resting Hendo, given he was subbed off, and the Bower/Thornton debate is 1.90 each way on the tote. Scotland perhaps?

That is why they subbed Hendo off last week, give him a rest. He is needed on Revolt, held him well last time we played IIRC.

Carlton has named its 25 man squad ahead of Monday night’s clash against St Kilda at Etihad Stadium.

After missing last week’s match, Captain Chris Judd, Jarrad Waite and Ed Curnow have all been named, with the final team announcement to be made on Saturday afternoon.

Speedster Chris Yarran was hoping to prove his fitness after succumbing to a toe injury in Round Four, however will be kept on the sidelines for another week.

Carlton's Round Seven squad:

B: A.Joseph L.Henderson M.Jamison
HB: Z.Tuohy N.Duigan J.Russell
C: K.Simpson B.Gibbs H.Scotland
HF: A.Walker J.Waite M.Robinson
F: J.Garlett S.Hampson E.Betts
Foll: M.Kreuzer M.Murphy C.Judd
INT (from): D.Armfield, P.Bower, J.Bootsma, E.Curnow, D.Ellard, K.Lucas, B.Thornton

In: C.Judd J.Waite E.Curnow

Disappointing that Duigan and Russell have been named on the field, and Thornton, Bower & Lucas have to sweat it out on the bench. Don't know what more they can do to earn a spot really.

Cannot agree with the Duigan comment at all. I thought that he improved as the game went on and after last year, we know that he is integral. It was only his second game back so I will maintain my faith.

Russell? Different category to me. I thought that he, Joseph and Ellard were the ones who Ratten referred to and rated him number one in terms of "not taking the opportunity".

Russell was significantly better than Duigan, and Tuohy.

I would assume that Ellard and Bootsma would be out, and one of Thornton and Lucas, depending on wether we wanted to go taller or shorter.

Based on one game? Possibly. Duigan's upside is far greater than Russell's IMHO. Tuohy's is even greater.

Sorry but I am for Russell, Joseph and Ellard though I am sure that Bootsma will go so reinclude (a new word?) Ellard

Don't think they need to sweat it out, too much.
They'd have a pretty good idea who is playing and who is not, although in principle, I agree with you.

Based on the last 3 weeks (although Russell only played 2).

Not sure how you can say Duigan has a greater upside than Russell. Duigan will never be close to runner-up in the John Nichols Medal.
