What can be said that hasn't already been said? We had a 22 man effort tonight for (verrrry close to) four quarters. Some of, if not the very best footy the Club has produced in a decade, regardless of the opponent. Big stage, everything to gain, all eyes on us and we made a very big statement. Tackling intensity, pressure efforts and one percenters right to the final siren, smooth transitions, no nonsense professional footy delivered with frightening precision. The Filth never had an answer and never looked capable of it.

Felt like the Twilight Zone tonight - we just did the '11 Collingwood on Collingwood, and a new dawn is rising. It's only early yes, but if we maintain this level of skill, speed and team cohesion, we're a certainty for top 4, possibly top 2. From there, this gameplay could see us pull an '08 Hawks and take a flag a year early. Our intensity and whole-team work rate tonight will hold up to any challenger. There's something special brewing down at Visy. I know it and you've known it for years, but now...now we really are coming. Commentary tonight said it best - a group of talented players, all around the same age and all peaking together - this is the premiership team we've spent a decade building, and the time's now. The window is open. After so many years in the wilderness, I don't really know how to feel...I'm waiting for the rug to be pulled out, for me to wake up and realise it's all a dream. I'm beyond impressed and bursting with pride right now and feeling the love big time...really feel like we're witnessing history in the making. Our top tier players are either elite or on the verge of eliteness, our second-tier are standing up and being counted, all our cheap buys are blooming into golden nuggets, villains are becoming heroes...and with more players to return, what's not to like?

It's times like these I'm thankful my Dad (and most of my family) was born in Carlton and I was indoctrinated into the fold. Real thankful.

Did I mention we f**ing smashed the Pies?! Unbelievable on paper, unbelievable on the field. What a great night! This one's going straight to the pool room. Football pornography, thank you Blue boys!

What a brilliant post mate!!

I know you're not referring to me Heavs, (in fact I usually lean too far in the opposite direction), however ...

No question it was a great win and Collingwood only played as well as we let them, but ... they had key personnel
missing or underdone, then lost two during the game. I believe we'll face far tougher examinations than this one in the
weeks ahead.

I like what Judd had to say after the game when it was put to him that we may now be the premiership favourites.
He commented about the volatility of media opinion and how four weeks ago we were in "crisis talks" after failing to
win a pre-season match.

Any win over the filth is a good one, but right now I have doubts about just how good they really are.

Still 3 wins 5 losses this year. Well behind the 8 ball.

Interesting. I thought he was poor. Fumbled, made poor decisions and wasn't damaging with his disposal.
I thought Kruez was our best. Jolly gives their mids an arm chair ride usually and our rucks took them on and beat them comprehensively.

Pretty much agree on both points. I can't fault Scotland's application, but I thought his decision making was ordinary and disposal was so-so. I feel he hasn't come back quite as good this year. I hope I'm wrong.

Kreuz was magnificent. He hasn't appeared in many best player lists but his ruckwork was simply superb and was the number one reason we got going in the first quarter.

Scotland's disposal for the most part was spot on. He did lose his feet on a few occasions and fluff gaining disposal.

Thought this was hilarious reading back through the Filth Forum's predictions:

Quote:
Just as bitchmond is carltanks bitch. carlwank is ours. watch players like gibbs jibb it again and little germs gartlet and that other little germ in the forward line crap themselves again. downhill skiers they are and when the magpie pressure comes again watch em wilt. Watch Clokey and Dawesy tear em a new one again. Pies easy by 35

Guess they weren't expecting Opposites Day? Delusional gummies :screwy:

Spoke with a Pies assistant coach at a party last night. He said they were shellshocked post game, and added that he has no doubt we have the personnel, focus, etc to go all the way this year.

Most complete performance I have seen since 2000. A couple of the recent Geelong wins were fantastic, but in terms of 1-22 contribution this was tops.

Absolutely superb effort from every player wearing navy blue, they did themselves and the club proud.

Haven't heard one 'yeah but' since the win, testament to how thorough was the dismantling.

If we get some luck with injuries, on a sunny day at the G in September, we're as good as any.

Interesting change from when "Ockham's Razor" posted this last August:

Quote:
Wednesday last week Collingwood held an exclusive board room lunch for select Collingwood supporting corporare executives. Nick Maxwell & Harry O'Brien attended. Rules of the lunch were whatever was said in the room was to stay in the room - those in attendance were influential Collingwood people.

Amongst a range of topics discussed, the players were asked which team in top 8 they feared the most coming into the finals. Both Maxwell & O'Brien responded that Hawthorn were the greatest threat. They were asked for their views on Carlton & each said that the Blues were no threat as there were plenty of Blues players who would go missing in the finals.

Just the introduction will be enough for me .....oh wait, do you mean the youtube link?!...

Seriously thanks as always Wookie. By the end of the year we'll all owe you weeks of our live in time saved not having to plough through a lot of the garbage to get the few minutes of what we actually want.

No doubt if Mick bites back, Eddie will use his "I was wearing my entertainer's hat that day" excuse like he does every other time he says something @#$%&! stupid.

It's nice to see though that we've started the chain reaction over there. It's what we do best, and shows that the world is righting itself.

It's like the Collingwood of 2008 again. They're more focused on attacking each other than fixing what's wrong with the team.

Eddie's time may be finally up.
