Difficult to assess where we are after that game.

No doubt that the five day break would've had an affect on Brisbane's performance, but equally, we won exactly as a top side should. Next week we have the same proposition, with Collingwood having two less days off, although it's a six day space.

Murphy has improved yet again, which is a big statement, and our forward line has a balance and cohesion I haven't seen since the mid-nineties, with the prospect it maybe even better.

Waite looks set for a best-ever season.

More than anything is that we have depth that rivals any other team. Jamison, Duigan, Walker and Warnock have to return to the seniors, and while I think Russell is struggling, it's hard to think of who else to drop.

It's a long time since I've looked forward to a match against Collingwood as much as I am now.

Lions terrible after half time. Obviously big test is next week. Didn't beat a top four team last year so we need to step up now

Well the filth are sitting outside the eight and are unlikely to be top four by next week.

A question about Armfield - was he tagging someone tonight, didn't seem to see him much (although I missed quite a bit of the second half in particular)

He had a quiet night tonight and got caught with the footy on the burst, which is unusual for him.
When Jamo and Duigan come back, I think Russell and Armfield might be the ones to make way. Russell first because he hasn't got the pace. Jamo will go to FB of course, Hendo to CHF so Bower should hold his spot and go to one flank, Duigan to the other for Armfield. The other consideration is to drop Bower and keep Armfield or Russell just for a balance of height and run, although Bower has been pretty reliable these first two games.

A good win. The channel 7 camera work is terrible, the first quarter showed Voss, Ratten and Jono Brown more than what was going on on the field. The change of angles is so annoying that you completely lose the play.
Judd is brilliant and Murphy is not far behind.
Loved Eddie's 2 marks.

WOW... Just Wow!!!
To win by 15 goals interstate against a team brimming with confidence after last week will gain us a lot of respect.
the hype leading into next weeks game against the Filth is going to be MASSIVE!!!!
Not getting too carried away just yet with our start to the year though, as at the end of the day, the way we perform against the better teams will truly show us if we re going to be a true force this year or not. The next three weeks against the Filth, the Scum and the Dorkers (in Perth) will be a massive test for us, and we ll have a more accurate picture of exactly where we re at as a team following that....

A good effort...

Eddies 2nd Mark - Mark of the Year (to date)

Murphy - Goal of the Day..

We have to beat up on the higher teams of Hawthorn Collingwood Geelong and West Coast...If we don't, we have not improved....

Scoring shots

Versus Richmond: 35 - 21

Versus Brisbane: 39 - 18

It felt like we kept Richmond in the game with inaccuracy last week, but got the right margin this round.

Well? Don't rate the Brions atm and I expected an easy win, but this was massive.

We won by 15 goals but that first qtr was poor. Every goal we conceded was due to giving away silly frees or poor defensive structures. Also wasn't happy with the way we entered our forward 50 with all the long bombs. Need Walker to add that extra leading option.

Second half was extraordinary... such a domination. Best part, it seemed to me that we did it effortlessly. Let Judd run tagger-less at your own peril. Hard to find a bad player tbh.

Play of the day... Judd smother in the center kicks to Murphy, he spears a pass to Simpson, goal.

Let's be honest though... next 3 weeks will give us a better perspective of where we are. Who makes way for the likes of Jamison, Duigan, Warnock, Walker? A good problem to have.

Another nice step up from last week.

Similar pre-match to last. A lot of talk about 5 or 6 Brisbane players, but nothing mentioned of the rest. Sure Rockliff, Black, Leunberger, Adcock, Redden go OK, but it's 22 v 22, and we can match them at the top end, and just as important bat so much deeper.

What it means for next week?, well who knows. What we do know is that this team - if in a reasonable healthy state, and the effort is there - should be able to counter for half the competition on pure ability alone. Within 2 matches, how far away does the scoreless second half in Maroochydore, or the 9 goals in 20 minutes against Nth seem?

From last November I wanted to hit Rnd 3, 2-0 with nothing to lose, and I have my wish. Can wait for next Friday night, and I reckon we'll see a team who is looking forward to the challenge and seeing where they are at, rather than the one in previous years that sort of gave the impression that they were happy to just not get blown away.

Apart from the obvious mentions, couple of whipping boys in Carrazzo and Bower (Emu 2, Irish 0) did themselves proud tonight.

One player who had yet another good game tonight was Zac Tuohy.

The poise and quality of disposal is remarkable for someone so inexperienced in the game.

Notice who in the two great marks Betts took tonight had kicked the ball to Betts? His mate Yarran on BOTH occassions.

That wizend old prune Kevin Bartlett will have his work cut out excluding either of Eddie's marks from the final list of mark of the year contenders, but I am sure he will give it a damn good try.
