Watching the richmond game again curnow stood out for me early in the last quarter getting 3 very important touches when it was a one goal game. I agree his disposal can be haphazard throwing it on the boot, but if you look at those last quarter efforts he's what you want around the 50/50 contests. He's one of the better endurance players and is valuable at that sort of time when fatigue kicks in.

Love your work as always Wookie

The common theme with all those tipsters, is that there's still a clear desire from 'experts' for us to fail. It never gets old.

I still think JR as sub.
He was ordinary last week so the team doesn't lose much, and I actually think it would be good for him to come on fresh mid way through the 3rd quarter when everyone else is fatigued. A chance to stamp himself on some contests and hopefully gain some confidence. He's also fairly versatile in case of injury in that he can play back, rotate through the middle, or hff

Carlton heads to the Gabba aware its history there, even when Brisbane was at its worst, hasn't been great, and in some cases, particularly painful.

The Blues probably hit their lowest ebb as a club there five years ago, the day they were smashed by 117 points in a humiliation that cost Denis Pagan his coaching job and led, temporarily at first, to the appointment of Brett Ratten.

And that elimination final loss in 2009, when Carlton managed to throw away a six-goal lead with a last-quarter collapse, still rankles with the Blues.

Ratten, and the current players still on the books, won't forget that one in a hurry.

But the coach will also be conscious that while the 2009 version of Brisbane was indeed a finalist, this version has less kudos, though far more potential. And that potential, as demonstrated last Saturday, is being realised rather rapidly.

Why bring up a final from 2009?

Knights was still the man for Essendon* way back then.

Watch the video above. Mark Robinson brings that final up and Ratten quickly says it was a long time ago and we don't even think too much about last year let alone 09. He also mentions that a lot of the current players didn't even play in that game.

Rubbish article

Rubbish article

They're having an each way bet by building both sides up for a fall or praise. They did this with Richmond. The post-match articles have already been written in their heads.

Blues lose to battlers

Top four Blues belt pretenders

Brave Lions in narrow loss to top four side

Best pub near Gabba for food/drink pregame? Is there one Carlton supporters tend to go to?

Watching Rd11 2009 and Henderson is playing on Carlos.

Gone from the Lions is Power, Brennan, Rischitelli, Bradshaw, Clark, Johnstone to name a few.

Gee, we're playing again in a few hours.
A bit nervous, but mostly excited about it.

I guess they might give us a scare early on, and then towrd the end we'll (hopefully) pantz them.

ps. missnaut, cheer loudly for all of us. I hope you have a blast up there.

Those 'experts' are probably factoring our preseason loss to them.

Carlton players playing tonight that did not participate in that game;
Betts
Carrazzo
Garlett
Gibbs
Henderson
Kreuzer
Laidler
Murphy
Robinson
Scotland
Simpson

Brisbane players playing tonight that did not participate in that game
Nil

Is that worth 10 goals?

If anyones looking for a pub near the gabba I can recommend the chalk, although it is the home of the lions and it's normally packed before/after a game.

If not the pineapple is the home of afl in qld and is also quite good but its a bit further away (still walking distance though)

this.

the media are a joke with their short shortsightedness. brisbane beat laughing-stock melbourne, so apparently they are a force to be reckoned with.
