Hmm? Which out of Rowe or Murdoch is it that we are meant to think would take Walker's place because I'm struggling to see your point. :?

However, if you are looking for trouble (masochist) then a point I shall make. I'd say being reactive and taking a mature age recruit at the last minute, instead of taking a more inclusive approach to drafting on a more regular basis, might be an essentially fruitless exercise.

We either have extremely brittle players, or our injury-management is shite.

Well we've seen first hand that they're going back to basics diagnostically, which is a smart move when you're faced with a series of problems you don't understand.

They did this by getting most of the players to shed all of their tape in the early stages of pre-season, save for those who had just had surgery on an area. So obviously they acknowledge the problem internally and are attempting to address it.

Bell is in his first pre-season as a mature player, so issues were bound to crop up as he took himself in with a heavy build and lifted his training intensity. In much the same way O'Keeffe was pretty heavy when we drafted him, albeit with puppy fat.

Warnock has clearly had problems with getting some weight in his arms and across his chest, as well as contested work being poor, so the double shoulder op makes sense and it takes a while to get back from.

We saw what happened to Laidler, heard what happened to Buckley and then there's Ellard, McInnes, Bray and White with the odd niggle that we're being cautious with.

Mitchell came to us with 3 shoulder ops under his belt so it happens, while Robinson and Jamison had their backs flare up and we've gone the patient route.

On the other side of the ledger, Walker's just come off an injury free season and is probably feeling the pinch after another typically hard pre-season shift from himself, so I don't mind that so much. McLean and Bower are completely unscathed for the first time in years; McCarthy, Collins, Kreuzer, Curnow, Waite and Hampson have recovered well it seems.

Hope I've covered everything.

Awful performance from the medical/sports science team with Walker.

He's been carrying that quad for a while now, they play him against Brisbane, he only kicks on his left, gets subbed off and now is going to miss five.

It would be funny if we weren't paying them so much money.

Can't help the Laidler type impact issues, fair enough. But the questions on how effectively we manage players keep getting louder and louder. Really disappointing. Amateur hour stuff.

Players seem to be going down like crazy - And not just with Carlton

Are players turning soft or have the medicos got it all wrong

Carlton currently has 14 out 48 on the injury list with clouds over another 2 or 3 and we haven't played a game in anger yet

Medicos & players probably aren't adjusting to the wear and tear resulting from the sub rule. This is all happening in direct competition against a lot of teams lifting their workloads and pre-season regimens.

Judd hobbled off in the last quarter yesterday with what appeared to be a sore knee - to say I was a bit puzzled seeing him return to the field not long after is understating things - putting him in cotton wool not an option ?

Sprinting 80m on and off the ground a million times (rotations) must really fatigue the players - sports science overkill

Add it to the list of bad decisions from last year.
