Was playing exceptionally well, Thornton, until the injury.

Maybe Austin will get his chance...

Run? Perhaps but he slaughtered the ruck contests in the limited time he spent in the centre square. Two goals in the last quarter admittedly in junk time were still worthy. Sandilands was eons above their worst players and taught us something about predicting the ball's path when we don't get the tap.

Thornton's hands were excellent. ATB Bret.

Engine room was very good except for Robinson. He still has too many brain fades...I'd been lead to believe that these were out of his game. :?:  :?:  :?:

Defence, especially Joseph/Laidler was very good although Ballantyne got away during junk time.

Kickouts were very poor once again; they were able to get quite a few coast to coast goals.

On some occasions at throw ins we didn't protect the corridor; Sandilands was able to flick the ball over the back for an easy unpressured clearance.

The harrassment of Garlett/Betts/Walker on their defenders was excellent.

Kreuzer was very poor and if Hampson was fit you would have to question whether he is best 22. Does not do enough up forward, gets pushed out of contests not only up forward but by a weed like Zac Clarke as well. Wait till next year.

Carlton need to clarify a few things with the umpires in regards to Judd. He is getting a lot of frees paid against him lately and some dont seem to make sense.
He picks up the ball cleanly without diving on it. He get tackle straight away without prior opportunity and then carries the tacklers towards our goals while he tries to get his hands free to punch the ball to our advantage.
I am not sure that is holding the ball but they are paying it against him a fair bit.
Its a fine line but we should get some clarity on it leading into the finals.

Nice win by the blues today. That ground suits us i reckon. Hope we get a shot at the eagles on it in a few weeks time.

Plenty to work on before finals and next week should be a good game to test ourselves in a really tight contest.

TBird looks nasty - Jamo and Waite not ready yet

so will they go with Russell or will they go with

Ohalpin :banghead:

T-Bird played an awesome game today, he is our versatile swingman these days ... maybe Setanta might have to come in for the sake of height

club, I reckon you're right on Judd. Carrying tacklers forward gives the impression he has opportunity to dispose. Would be better off standing still. Holding the ball interpretation is a blight on the game. Rules committee and umpiring dept make it impossible for the umpires to judge.

i have been saying since pre knee injury that kruezer just doesnt take anywhere near enough marks for such a big guy. i even suggested last week that he needs a spell at bullants perhaps. cant doubt his 2nd efforts, he's great there and some of his taps are handy but lets face facts, we'd probably get more out of setanta at the moment

Game should have been over at half time, need to work on our goal kicking.
Usual good players-Judd, Murphy, Gibbs, Eddie, Simmo, AJ was good too.
Terrible news about Thornton, our backmen must be cursed this season.
Judd should get Brownlow votes, not sure how many, Eddie just said in an interview that Judd was BOG.
A pretty taxing game in warmer conditions that we are used to.

Never ever seen anything like it with injuries to our talls. Hendo will have to stand Buddy, which will be a good learning experience for him :| We'll have to bring back Setanta surely ???

Terrible luck for T-Bird, as he's had by far his best ever season

Did enough to win. Game would have been over at 1/2 time if we kicked straight. Lockers supporters would have left then instead of 1/2 way through last quarter.

Tip Rat mk 2 should get a couple of weeks for the hit on Murphy near end of 1st quarter. Umpire 18 saw it, didn't pay free kick. Tip Rat Mk 2 kicked a goal. Umpire 18 appeared to apologise to Murph.

Freo fans complaining about umpires...... told them to check the free kick count....

go and get F%$#@d Freo!
Soft flogs.
Ballantyne can suck a fat one.
T-bird was on fire and in great form until the crack in the goalsquare, was sitting a few rows behind the incident and the missus almost threw up at the 'crack' sound that the incident made. Would be extremely surprised if there weren't broken bones in the face! All the best son.
Judd you're a freak.
All in all an awesome way to start a WA holiday! Bring on the Hawks

Weird with Kreuz. He's put on heaps of muscle, blitzed in his first two back and now is just a battler. Gonna be a good player, but yeah, time for a rest, and maybe bring him back as a finals weapon after a freshen up ??

I thought Joesph was excellent across HB today. Looks to be in peak physical condition and on his current form is in the best 22.

Was all the umpires fault according to the freo fans at the ground

Apparently Judd gets away with murder and never gets paid for holding the ball

Yarran is a traitor ?!?!?!?!?!?

Ballantyne is better than murphy

Good even effort. Shame about Thornton. Davies will be a player. Thought Joseph was ok today

Now I've never been to a game ub WA, but to me it seems they are the worst supporters in the country in terms of booing whenever an umpiring decision doesn't go their way. Sure, not as feral as Collingwood fans or as painfully smug as Essendon* fans, but WCE and Freo fans seem to have no idea about the rules of the game and are in a constant state of booing umpires. Is that a fair assessment?

Good to agree with you to Effes.

I get the AFL are trying to avoid packs and have introduced rules to avoid players jumping on the ball and i reckon a lot of players have adjusted. Judd does everything the afl want. He keeps his feet and uses his strength to try and clear the ball from the pack. He does everything they ask and is creating play not a stoppage but the umpires seem to be listening to the folk who think he gets away with murder. It is starting to confuse him and could have an affect on our overall game so it needs to be clarified as soon as tomorrow so we can adjust.
