Now yazza, be careful what you say about hoops. There are a lot of over sensitive types who frequent this site who think he is a must in our team.
And i aint one of them
But I am.
How can someone who has played 198 odd games, put in a full pre-season, been injured, played several weeks in the Ants and been in their best a few times in a row not be hungry? He could have just rested on his laurels in the Ants, got paid and seen out his contract on full pay.
He's been sub twice, and we lost against the Eagles. Wasn't his fault. The mids got slaughtered as a group and we couldn't handle their press. Plus we didn't take a contested mark inside 50.
Coming on as the sub is difficult. They don't have any time to adjust to the tempo of the game. Houlihan got 8 possies in one quarter against Sydney and was described by the commentators as possibly the perfect sub. We didn't lose that quarter because Houlihan was on. We lost it because the team took its foot off the pedal.
Everybody is entitled to his or her opinion on this site, even us over-sensitive types. As I said elsewhere, it's interesting that Keogh's re-emergence as a poster on TC co-incides with Houlihan's return to the team. He can't stand to see Houla in the Navy Blue and the better Houla plays, the more derogatory or sarcastic comments he makes. That's OK. I'm just here to try and balance things up a bit.
BTW, he is in again this week and for those of you who used to shout, 'If Houla ever gets to 200 games it will just prove Carlton has not improved,' when we were in 16th spot on the ladder, it's time for you to have a rethink. He will get to his 200 in a week or two and we are a possibility to play in the GF.
He will play his usual steady game this week and give away a couple of goals. You don't have to be BOG to get picked for next week, you just have to do what the coach wants.
