Apart from the Brisbane game where there were fitness doubts on Jamo and we played Bower as a sub for insurance, the sub has been a running/midfielder type. I don't expect that to change this week.

If Bower isn't fit enough to run out the whole game then he should be wearing red until he is. The fact he's wearing blue should mean he's fit.

I'm nervous about this one, real danger game. Doggies just coming into a bit of form.

Houlihan still in the side makes me even more nervous. We've lost every qtr he has played apart from against Richmond which was jus a debacle anyway. He ain't hungry enough anymore.

Now yazza, be careful what you say about hoops. There are a lot of over sensitive types who frequent this site who think he is a must in our team.

Got a feeling there might be a late chnage and Tuohy will come in. This is based on no facts whatsoever, but I just have a premonition.....
As others have said Zach is unlucky and like to see Bower do more to earn his place. Quite bizarre bringing him in as sub then dropping him etc. Needs extended time on field at Ants level, play really well then earn a spot. I don't think he has dome that.

Anyway I think another player has a niggle and will be replaced by Tuohy.

How about the 3rd quarter against West Coast, I'm pretty sure we won that one? oh, besides that one as well.

With Bower in the side it means we have the luxury of swinging Thornton and Henderson forward if the situation arises that we are struggling in the front half.

^^ This..
In any case, Duigan, Bower and Yazz arent exactly slow lumbering types so theres plenty of run out of our backline..

I wouldn't class Laidler & Duigan as talls, they can play tall though.

Do you know that we lost most quarters that Fev played in? I didn't hear you call for him to get dropped ever!!!!

How did you come to that conclusion?

Houlihan played well against Hurn and laid some good tackles last week.

There isn't another player in the 22 who I choose to deliver it inside 50 ahead of Houlihan.

Yarran.

..still think Hoops is better.. ..Yazz needs to iron out those 'cutesy' passes.. ..Hoops' kicking skill is excellent, Yazz is too but at times can be a little 'soft' in his kicking making the passes seem a touch lazy.. ..needs to rid himself of it cos he has the skill, just part still of developing the mental concentration to go all game..

Houlihan hasnt beem as dynamic with his disposal as he has been in other years. Yarran has gone past Houlihan as the most skillful player in the side.

But I am.
How can someone who has played 198 odd games, put in a full pre-season, been injured, played several weeks in the Ants and been in their best a few times in a row not be hungry? He could have just rested on his laurels in the Ants, got paid and seen out his contract on full pay.

He's been sub twice, and we lost against the Eagles. Wasn't his fault. The mids got slaughtered as a group and we couldn't handle their press. Plus we didn't take a contested mark inside 50.

Coming on as the sub is difficult. They don't have any time to adjust to the tempo of the game. Houlihan got 8 possies in one quarter against Sydney and was described by the commentators as possibly the perfect sub. We didn't lose that quarter because Houlihan was on. We lost it because the team took its foot off the pedal.

Everybody is entitled to his or her opinion on this site, even us over-sensitive types. As I said elsewhere, it's interesting that Keogh's re-emergence as a poster on TC co-incides with Houlihan's return to the team. He can't stand to see Houla in the Navy Blue and the better Houla plays, the more derogatory or sarcastic comments he makes. That's OK. I'm just here to try and balance things up a bit.

BTW, he is in again this week and for those of you who used to shout, 'If Houla ever gets to 200 games it will just prove Carlton has not improved,' when we were in 16th spot on the ladder, it's time for you to have a rethink. He will get to his 200 in a week or two and we are a possibility to play in the GF.

He will play his usual steady game this week and give away a couple of goals. You don't have to be BOG to get picked for next week, you just have to do what the coach wants.
