Im really bemused why Bower only got 1 quater of football and then they decide to go with Austin this week
i would have thought Bower would have picked up the pace a bit quicker than Austin.
Hope Bower gets the nod soon so he can get with the pace before finals!

I understand he is trying to overcome the aftereffects of a leg injury and they are taking a very cautious approach with him.

Today provides a moment for pause, but doesn't represent a moment for panic.

The lads have played with pride and enthusiasm for many weeks and deserve continued support for what they have offered so far this season. I'm sure they will be keen to make amends and I am already looking forward to next week's game.

the players that came in were not good enough today.
Losing Robinson. Duigan and Curnow meant we lost a lot of toughness at the ball.
If jamos injury is serious we are [REDACTED]. He is our most important player.
I would play Hendo in defence for a few weeks if jamo doesnt pay but we really need size down the spine.
We have addressd this with Mitchell, McCarthy and Watson but they arnt ready.

I would still take a punt on Watson next week. Riewvolt and Vickory are dangerous. We really lack size down back

Houlihan should have been delisted 6 years ago
Joseph would have offered more today.Houlihan's form in the maggos hasnt been special.Dont know the MC love him so much

very ordinary effort today after last weeks great win.
the boys need to answer this week in the positive

Who have we beaten in the 8?

Geelong - Loss
Collingwood - Loss
Hawks - Yet to play
Eagles - Loss
Sydney - Beaten Twice
Dockers - Yet to play
Dees - Won

Maybe we are not as good as we think we are???? Injuries no excuse, didnt seem to bother the Hawks on Friday night

:garthp:

You don't know a quarter of what you think you do.

They give Houlihan a chance whilst leaving AJ out because he can't kick.

Watson isn't ready.

Austin was caught ball watching at times, but he wasn't disgraced (as a defender) in his first game since round 18 2009.

If Jamison, Henderson and Austin don't play, who comes in?

Get sstormin, drewgirl and HotCox onto the match committee. :banghead:

Would be interesting to see how Austin goes when we have our team defense working. Today was the worse day to come into the team as key defender.

Really Kouta.? If I was on the match committee I would choose a tough team, not ball watchers....

Hope you like losing with houla ball watching, thorton behind his opponent then falling to the ground, Austin having no idea..... Need I go on.

These days if your intensity & defensive pressure are down you will struggle especially when trying to press. Simply it won't work without those ingredients. I believe there are reasons for it today as I mentioned earlier.

I won't judge players today simply because of this. People will make judgements and IMO it is wrong. Too simplistic.

Even Judd was average today. Is he past it, too slow, soft, worth trading, drop for McLean? :yikes:

Point taken however by his own standards, Judd has had an average month.

Judd has been down by his standards since he hurt his foot against (?) Geelong.

Wouldn't be surprised if he's not 100%

Whats with all the hate for Thornton? Was up against quality opponents with plenty of supply and was hardly disgraced.

One of the things which stood out for mine was how many times WC won the clearance from the centre bounce. They smashed us in the middle. The ball went into our backline and even if we stopped the score we had trouble getting it out of defence. The problem started in the middle. A fit firing midfield will help no end.

Going forward I suppose we need Jamo not to be injured and we desperately need Duigan’s poise and marking prowess. To add to this Jared Waite fit and firing so we have a target up forward for our smalls to feed off.

Today was our biggest loss this season. Questions should be asked internally and we need to improve from this experience.

we made a huge mistake at the selection table when we didnt bring in mclean.
1. They knew curnow was out
2. They probably knew robinson wasnt going to play
3. Ellard was more than likely going to struggle after being heavily concussed last week (as an aside, imo any player knocked out should be made to miss a week)

Anyway, some random thoughts on today
1. Umpires horrible. Didnt influence the result but some horrible decisions during the match
2. henderson needs a spell
3. Warnock is struggling. Is a long way off from where he was earlier in the year.

Not too worried with the loss actually if you consider the following players were missing from the best 22 (ie were in the team/best 22 before being injured)
1. waite
2. laidler
3. duigan
4. setanta
5. hampson
6. curnow
7. robinson
8. white (apparently he played today - random supporter kept bagging white even though it was actually austin!)

We also had jamison injured in the 1st quarter.
