Read a comment stating that Duigan had his worst game for the year. Gee some people have some short memories. Duigan was terrible against Collingwood and was lucky to hold his spot before playing well against Essendon*. Today he fumbled once or twice but overall his game was very serviceable.

Then maybe they shouldn't use first round draft picks on blokes they are going to have sitting on the bench for 3 quarters of the game.

I think its a challenge for other sides to compete with a team that can spend an extra 800k per season on players than everyone else.

Should ask him how Veszpremi, Everitt and Daniel O'Keefe are going.

They will use the usual 'we can't bottom out in a Sydney market' BS they usually spin. The extra room in the cap allowed them to get McGlynn, Kennedy, Seaby and Mumford at the end of 2009. They are very well run and target the right guys to get, but the point is other clubs simply can't afford to do what they do in targeting quality established talent because they don't have as much to spend.

They seem to think their this highly ethical club who has had to do it 'the hard way'.

Ask Hawthorn how much Sydney offered Josh Kennedy and Ben McGlynn, compared to what they could offer.

Edit. Adam Chats just beat me by a minute.

..er...Go Blues.

That 3rd quarter was awesome and I was lucky enough to be sitting at the Lockett end in where we were pinging the goals from. The crowd around us were going wild, it was almost like sitting in the Heatley Stand during one of our famed premiership quarters in the early 80's. They were given a standing ovation.

I love my AFL Membership as this year it has been just awesome to go to every Melbourne game that the Blues are playing in and see them perform well, even when we lose to Collingwood and Geelong.

What the team showed yesterday is that they can change the game to be on their terms, whereas in the past if the game wasn't on our terms to begin with, we'd lose. Ratten and the coaching staff have to be applauded for getting a mentality into the group to be able to wrestle a game back into their favor. This is what Geelong have been able to do in their premiership campaigns. Collingwood not so much, they have more or less won on total team brilliance/domination. It'll be interesting when we play them in a few weeks.

Love or loathe the guy, Adam Goodes is a damn good player when he's on song. He reminds me of a fit and firing Kouta.

Saw Hampson go down in the centre circle (looked like a knee straight away) and thought that Sydney would get on top because you could see Kruezer sucking in the oxygen in the last quarter as he had to go it alone in the ruck. By the 10 minute mark of the final, he was running on the spot. Imagine when he is 4-quarters fit? The papers are right when they say he becomes one of our most important players.

The tackle on Ellard was a shocker from Mumford and interesting that the umpire initially called Ball Up but changed it to a free kick.

If Marc Murphy didn't take another 3 votes yesterday, it'll be interesting. Barring injury, get your hard earned on him now.

Russell was in fine form again, and Duigan even though he had a few grubbers go past him, he counted where it mattered - clearing the contest, taking defensive marks and running hard.

It's a real shame that Hampson is out (or so it appears). He has the tank and ability to match Cox and Natinui, not sure Warnock does. Interesting question - are we still happy to have off loaded Jacobs?

So Carlton are now 4 games into what I thought could be a 7 game winning streak before we meet Collingwood. I figured that Sydney would be the hardest of the lot and we smashed them. I didn't think West Coast were convincing against Port yesterday and in a more open encounter, Carlton should be easy favorites next week.

Exciting times to be a Member of Carlton or the AFL. I can't wait until 2.10pm next Sunday.

Let's just get this straight once and for all - we DID NOT offload Jacobs, he wanted to go to get more first team football and good on him for that because he would be 4th fiddle this year.

He was close to our best player against the bombers.

It's clearly because we stole all the decent players before they were available.

Hear that Gary and Lewis? That's how highly your coach rates you.
