IC: Scotland Carrazzo Robinson

SUB: Curnow Armfield Ellard Joseph Tuohy

* Hampson or Setanta (whoever is in form). Changing with Kreuzer at FF.
Warnock needs to lift his marking and goalkicking in the 2nd half of 2011.

They're all available now, at the half way mark.
Ripe for the picking (Laidler the a couple of weeks away)

The forwardline will have plenty of marking power in Hendo, Kreuzer & Walker to release Waite from forwardline.
We have the luxury to play marking mobile talls Waite and Walker on a wing and still have marking power forward.
But geez that goal to goal line looks good with Waite at CHB let alone how good the backline looks too.

No doubt we're able to swing Hendo and Waite when we want to. Good KP flexibility.
I have no doubt Houla will be back to play defensive forward with a goal or 2. Carrots can too. and so can Robbo...but Houla's all class.
Cut above...and we're playing for the flag at the G in October.

I'm a huge fan of the bottom 6 theory, and when I look at our bench I drool.
There will be injuries come finals time (just hope it's not to our top 18 players).
Injury will determine if we win the flag or not.

I'm a huge fan of Waite as a forward ...but in this case I'll leave it till the shit hits the fan.
Nice to throw him in there when we're 10 goals up against the Filth....just to remind them we are the best team ever.

Would love to get a fit Houlihan in there, I reckon in a team that's going well, his class will be cream.

Moving Waite to the wing serves 2 purposes. First, it puts him in what I think is he most effective position - can cruise up and down linking forward and back, go forward and take a grab, and push back and be a 3rd man up against the opposition key forward (or fill the whole in front). Second, it allows us to play him as a midfielder, but gives us a backup tall in case injury or form require a change forward or back.

The depth now is becoming significant

Very surprised to see Bower mentioned so often....

Very surprised?
Because he might not be fit enough?

When fit, he isn't slow, and he wouldn't and shouldn't be selected unless he's fit.
From reports on the Ants he got about 30 touches in the backline last week and did his running the lines thingy, and played well.

A fit Bower brings in a tall who can run fast and break lines.
That's in his nature, and a great weapon against the press.

I would like to see Henderson go back to CHB as I think we could struggle against teams (like Collingwood) with two bigbodied forwards. I would also like to see Kreuzer play mainly as a forward for the remainder of the season, and so I wouldn't like us to be too tall up forward. So here is my team...

Duigan Jamison Bower
Russell Henderson Yarran
Gibbs Curnow Simpson
Houlihan Waite Walker
Garlett Kreuzer Betts

Warnock Judd Murphy

Int: Scotland, O'Hailpin, Robinson

Sub: Ellard

Emerg: Armfield, Laidler, Carrazzo

And Scotland on the bench

Simple minded way of picking players

I assume you realise 1) that once you have picked the 22, the team doesn't necessarily line up as selected and 2) whoever is selected on the bench isn't there for long due to rotations

They never line up as picked.
There's always players named on the bench who start on the ground.

You are right, there may be better at a given time.
That may be the reason he hasn't been picked since his injury.

He has been known to be selected when he was fit and in form.

I hope the younger guys on our list take over some of the older guys like Bower and Setanta.
It's all about depth, and if he's not in our best 22 in 2010, he's got to be next in line perhaps along with White.

I don't know how the MC see it, but the selection table gives us a good idea.
I can't wait to see Mitchell, McCarthy Kerr and McGuiness make the best 22.
But they're no good to us for 2011, and we should be thinking of those we do have in our top 25 players for a tilt at the flag.

I reckon we'll give the flag a shake with or without Bower.
I'm not missing him one bit, till we start to lose because he's missing.
I hope we don't lose any games for the rest of the season; we did it in 1995.

Barring injury, I can't see any reason to pick Henderson again for the rest of this year.

Setanta, Kreuzer, Waite, Thornton and a couple of tall-ish debutants means we're OK for big blokes that provide a contest.

Let's see him finish the season with 80-odd scores for the Bullants and come out next year bigger, fitter & ready to be a premiership full forward.

Fair enough in theory, but will he be more likely to become a gun key forward in 2012 if he plays Seniors or Reserves in 2011?

Like that side. Personally I hope Touhy and Lucas can step up and show there worth but that is a very good side!

Stuffed if I know..... He may just need to line up next to a smart operator like Krooz.

Kicking consistent bags would have to be good for the confidence though.

Just give us the cup now!

Crusader....we must be on a different wavelength.

you say setanta and thornton are better options than an inform henderson? or are you simply suggesting we 'save' henderson for another year?

I understand henderson has been in form in the twos.....i didnt see last week, but the half i saw the previous suggests he should be ready (given he was one of the best last week as reported).

Setanta has been struggling (and is injured), Waite is injured, while Thornton has been playing a role down back. I am also not sure who these couple of tallish debutants you refer to are(?)

this week is a ripper opportunity for HENDO and by all reports has earned his return. PLus he faces his old team.

this is 2011, we are nearing half way through the season and sit on 7.5 games.......the time is NOW to play in form guys who are ready!

GO HENDO

Don't know about Kerr. I think he's got a fair way to go in 2011 to make the best team, but I hear you Rexy.
I'm pretty sure Russell will be ahead of Kerr for a long time to come.

I am a huge fan of Armfield's pace, but I believe like many positions in our team, a better player will evolve and take over the mantle and I think Tuohy will be that player.

That forwardline looks like a Premership forwardline if ever I've seen one.

I agree that Hampson could nudge out Warnock in the end because he is stronger, faster, has a greater leaps and imo seems to be fitter.

No doubt Robbo has arrived in 2011.

Can we please change the title of this thread to 'Our best 27'?

It's getting too hard only being allowed to pick 22.
