would love to see hendo out there this week.
massive in if he is available.
i think watson should also play, great opportunity for him to play and get game time into him, they have a lot of kids for him to play on.
s and v chips, chocolate and frothies should do the job for the game.

Not sure who will be kicking Gold Coasts goals and Josh Fraser is a very ordinary ruckman so Warnock and Hampson should dominate. Midfield to be to strong for Gold Coast and if we can sit on Ablett and restrict him to under 20 possesions then Carlton are are going to win this game by 10 goals plus.

Out White Carrazzo
In Ellard Watson

Lucas to remain as the sub for this week.

Amen to this mate. I am very suprised why everyone doesn't have him out of there team :donk: . Watson is already alot better player and he is the future.

Will be there.
Hopefully Thornton won't: I really want to like him but he was poor last week and I mentioned to Whistler during game that he has just ended his own career. Although, I reckon he would be a pretty good forward option: can take grabs and kick goals - maybe he would be a good sub?
Watson could play this one as an intro to the big time but in general I'm concerned that he's not too sharp below his knees and it will take time for him to develop this.
Loved Mitch's game Rnd 1 and pleased to see a couple of times he tried to drill the ball a bit better off the boot.
Thought there were signs guys were looking to use the ball better going inside 50.
Back 6 have at least met eachother now so that will help.
Very noble of you Whistler to miss work to pass on the training news to us all.
Go Blues.

I reckon that's not a bad option if we knew a tall would go down. Trouble is, he is too slow if we lose a running player.
I reckon Setanta is almost the perfect sub if he can get fit. Plays tall, fast and good below his knees. He's already played almost every position on the ground as well.

I love it how we're basically already being written off in this game based on history alone.

I don't reckon he'll play and I would be surprised if Henderson plays - probably are being kept for Round 3.

Hmmm ... I thought Thornton did some good things against Richmond .. I watched the game again last night. I thought he did a hell of a lot better than White.

... Runs for cover ... :smoking: :smoking:

yes you might be preaching to the wrong crowd..

I thought his last quarter when he was playing loose with no opponent was pretty decent. I don't like him as a one on one defender which makes him a bit one dimensional as a defender.

These are the types of games that we usually let slip, so I'm glad to see Judd stating that we wont be taking the Sunshine boys lightly... Smash them from the word go, as that way, the emotion factor will quickly go out of the game...

If we're really a serious finals contender we'll win and win well.

The funny thing is that people have the history wrong. It is a 50/50 proposition

Eagles '87, Bears '87 and Crows '91 all won their opening games (Eagles beat Richmond and Crows beat Hawthorn - (both were Stete Teams) and Bears beat North Melbourne)

Dockers , Power, and Brisbane Lions all lost their first games. (Dockers '95 lost to Tigers in R1 beat Fitzroy in R3, Power '97 lost to Collingwood in R1 and beat Geelong in R3, Lions '97 lost to Crows in R1 beat Saints in R2)

Sydney beat Melbourne in R1 at the SCG in 1982 but does anyone remember what the early 80s Dees were like (and Sydney wasnt really a new club)

Footscray and Hawthorn lost R1 in 1925 but North Melbourne won.
Richmond won and University lost in 1908

I'll go with the more recent history.
