BRENDAN Fevola has played alongside champions while wearing the navy blue.
Silvagni, Bradley, Ratten and Koutoufides are legends who spring to mind, yet the former Carlton livewire rates Ryan Houlihan the most skilful he has gone into battle with....

Sorry Houla...

He's a great asset to the team, and I appreciate what he contributes. Very underrated.

But we all know Fevola isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, and to say he's up there with a player like Koutoufides, in his prime, is just a ridiculous call. I'll be surprised if we ever see another player like Kouta was in his prime.

Yes, Houlihan is a very skillful player. I think he lifted his commitment to man, ball & team in the last 18months. And as we ascend to the top, he may even become an A-grader (maybe).
However, there is great disparity b/w how most people see Houla & Fev's view - which comes down to Fev's view of the world, skewed heavily towards himself. Thus, someone who can kick the ball perfectly for him to mark = best player.
Whereas, for the rest of us, there is a lot more that determines how good a player is.

In my view, Houla is definitely not in our top 15 players at the moment and is borderline starting 22...

200 games would be a terrific effort.
agree not in our top 15......at 29......no way he will ever make it to being an 'A' grader!
if we are to progress this year it wont because we get more out of Houlihan, it will be because our younger blokes are stepping up.
without disrespect to his career effort, our best opportunity lies in others preventing him getting a regular guernsey.

Um, no mention of booze cruise there, or Fev pissing on walls or waving dildos around. What's going on?

If Carlton had Blair playing instead of Houlihan, we would finally make it through to the second week of the finals.

Cancel that!

We'd be unstoppable if we could drop one of our better finishers who took the AFL's best half backs out of the game this year.

Trying to work out if Fev is promoting Houlihan or Fev.

He's taking a leaf out of a book called "Eddy Everywhere".

..most skillful..?.. ..yanno, he could be.. ..if based purely on football handling skill [especially kicking] Houla is thereabouts at the top.. ..to be the best footballer however takes more than pure kicking skills, which is why houla has his detractors.. ..also not forgetting seasons played out of position in a shizen team.. ..i honestly believe if we didnt have those dark years Houla wouldn't be bagged out anywhere near as much.. ..though he still would have needed to work more on his deficiencies.. ..but who knows, a better team and coach could have got so much more out of him.. ..hoping we realise the lost potential in hoops and make sure yaz doesnt go the same way..

Clearly saving them up for the inevitable New Years Day Fev story.
