WRT talking to the media...are people really surprised that after years of bad press the club is reluctant to play the media game? Just look at the recent article on Goddard - one small part of the conversation is turned into the focus of the article.

And seriously who cares about what North are doing? They would love to be in our position.

Maybe we should have people who can manipulate the media and not make naiive comments that can be exploited.
That would be a lot smarter than refusing to play the "media game". Like it or not, the media is the best way to reach your supporters.

Someone as smart as a QC should know how the media game works, and should know better than to make silly comments which can be used the way they have.

Look at Essendon*: They know they can't polish a turd, but they're sure as hell rolling it in glitter. And it's paying off day in, day out.

I don't think Wilson is silly, so one wonders why those comments were offered?

I missed the AGM, the first in quite a few years, so thanks everyone for the feedback.

Personally, give me a Cup anytime over a cap but I agree with some of the posters, the administration and management of the Club and how it deals with and treats its members; and manages the media, is a reflection of intent. Our circumstances have changed and held off automatically renewing our family's far from inexpensive gold 17 reserve membership to get a handle on things, certainly didn't appreciate getting a ''renew your membership by 16/12 or lose your seat allocation" SMS the other day.

Sometimes, I just get the feeling that the old arrogance is misplaced, sure giving it to the other teams (especially Essendon*) is part of the deal but don't show it to the members. For me, it's a privilege and an honour to renew my membership but the Club could do well in recognising, it is not their god given right.

The better a club looks after it's on-going members, the easier it is to attract more of the same, irrespective of the position on the ladder.

Anyway despite getting the poos up a bit, all signed up and ready for the new season .... Go Blues !

Wasn't Mike Sheahan invited down to Sorrento for the training camp, and has been invited to other things in the past? He certainly hasn't written anything positive about us in a long time.

I may have miss heard this but i think Ratts said Kruze was riding to Bathurst. So much for holding him back if true.

Know how knee recos work?
Yes Dane, i understand that riding is part of the rehab` process but i think riding to Bathurst may be a little excessive and potentially dangerous.

Thanks for the reports. I have been to most in recent years but was unable to attend this year.
Seems like it got a bit heated with one unhappy supporter, i bet Swann wasnt expecting that.
One thing that i am unsure about is why Waite only got his life membership this year, he was drafted the year before Simmo and Fisher. I would have thought that this year was his 9th at the club. Anyone know the answer to this?

The media stand-off by Sticks and Ratten just demonstrates how backward their thinking is...

I've said it before and I'll say it again, hire Essendon*'s whole @#$%&! PR dept (the part that doesn't consist if HS journos anyway)

It's this kind of thinking that may well lead to Carlton being overtaken by 'lesser' clubs like North. As much as we've improved on and off field in the last few seasons we can't afford to rest on our laurels either. North may not have enough supporters to fill a mini, but they're at least trying to engage them.

Well said wojee.

Other clubs are doing a lot of things right that we are not doing.

We should take note.

we WERE the most progresive club in the 70's and 80's and our aura got us through in the 90's when as we know today we were being overtaken by all other teams.

Following Black Friday in 2002, even North were ahead of us. It'll happen again if we stick our heads in the sand.

He shouldn't be a life member, that's like buying your girlfriend flowers the day after you've been to the hookers.

For starters - the qualifying period is 8 years....and by my reckoning, he's played more than a hundred games for Carlton...NAB games/Challenge Cup etc. The magic '100' figure that everyone harps on about is name on locker and father/son. That he was awarded LM is very well deserved.

Agree with this statement, Brad Fisher is a very deserving recipient of life membership

Re: the earlier discussion about museum/hof?

The Spirit of Carlton has contributed towards a display case on the the ground floor of the new facility. This will be up and running within a matter of weeks.

It will not be a fully fledged museum or hall of fame. But it will be much better than what is in the current space at the moment. It will certainly make visiting the foyer for old and young alike an even more enjoyable experience than it is already.

Well done SoC! Looking forward to seeing that.

I must say, the new foyer gives me goosebumps now, even in its sparse state. I love that wall of Premiership cups, and being able to see the Team of the Century painting hanging there...*shiver*.
