So the lack of a t-shirt that a few blokes like is why the club's "communications" is no good?
I was just using my correspondence with the club over a t-shirt in the past as an example.
We could be doing so, so much more as a club to reach our members in a much broader and more entertaining/informative/worthwhile way than how we do it now. Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, cut out so much of the overheads that used to exist, the money saved because of those services should be invested in using those services properly, and well.
The fact that so many professionals (I'm not one of them) have tendered their services and ideas free of charge only to recieve no reply whatsoever isn't very good.
As a club we seem frightened to adopt a world's best practice approach to our membership services, as well as other areas. It wouldn't be very hard to become a leader in this department, but we just don't seem interested in doing it.
We all just want the club to be a bit more proactive in different areas so to please and reach everyone in a worthwhile way. We could be doing so much better, and I just want to us to.
The club can't just bring out a T-shirt, it's not the way AFL merchandise/licensing works.
A company would have to get the license to supply T-Shirts for all AFL clubs, and the AFL gets a 20% rebate of the w/sale value of all merchandise sold.
Retailers can't deal with seperate suppliers for different clubs as there would be too many suppliers, and they need uniform price structures (hence the way the AFL grants licences).
T-shirts may fall under a general apparell license that is already held by a company.
