Just read the 'venting' throughout the site. Everyone has copped a spray. Well, nearly everyone.

We missed the recruiters. So in the interests of being fair and balnaced here goes.

Why the flower have they recruited so many 'soft, self absorbed, selfish HACKS!!. Gee with all those early picks they should targetted players that have HEART, THAT BLEED BLUE!!!!!! PLAYERS THAT WILL WIN US PREMIERSHIPS. PREMIERSHIPS PEOPLE. Not the useless hacks we have now

No idea, cretins the lot of them.

SACK THEM!!!

Thats what 'old' Carlton would do.

The players weren't soft and insipid when we drafted them, just the way we develop them.

It's because we are not a professional outfit from top to bottom. We don't have smart football people at our club other than Swann who is powerless. We lacked vision. We lacked a plan. WE ARE SUFFERING!

I went to training on Saturday and can confirm that we have a shiny and professional looking building.

Who is responsible for trades? Recruiters? Coaches? A combination of both?

Carlton got: Warnock
Carlton lost: Picks 24, 56
Could have had:
Pick 24 (Suban, Beams, Hannebery)
Pick 56 (Cornelius taken at 57)

Carlton got: McLean
Carlton lost: Pick 11
Could have had:
Gysberts, Fyfe, Bastinac, any one of the talls taken in this draft that will likely emerge next year.

There's just no way to gloss over these trades any longer, they are diabolical. I really think 08 and 09 will be a period where we look back and wonder WTF we were thinking. There's going to be a massive development hole in our list due to this period. It's like we learned nothing from the late 90's, early 00's. :|

coulda woulda shoulda Cyclonus, recruiting would be a bitch to do as a job and we have had success and sometimes it just doesnt work out , thats life.
i thought the warnock trade was ok at the time and still time to get him right, but the brock trade was a shit move in my opinion

He's the CEO.

He is a CEO who is heavily involved with the off field footy matters at the club. Hence why he left Collingwood for Carlton as Eddie adjusted his role to purely a admin one.

A lot of supporters target our recruiting as a problem, but it's hard to blame the recruiters when we constantly trade away low-to-mid range picks and leave them with little else to work with.

the players, the recruiters, the coaches, the admin what ever........... what we've dished up the last 5 weeks was horrible. We're far from premiership contenders but we are better than how we've performing and thats why there is something wrong at the club.

sugarcoat it all you like but there is something wrong because we have enough talent on the park to not be pumped by the Bulldogs who we've matched it with over the past 2 years. To find ourselves 7 goals down against the Kangas. To be 6 goals down against Freo

You just said he was powerless now he's heavily involved. I think yesterday's hammering has effected some poster's brains.

The biggest decision of all our senior coach he was powerless.

We got Pratt

Pratt got Swann

Swann and Pratt got Judd

Swann and Pratt got Justin Cordy

Sticks and his mates got Ratten.

people can ham it up all they want. the simply fact is we have failed in our recruiting. now whose failure that is, I am not sure as I don't know what the set up is down there and who makes the calls on such things. But collectively, we have somehow managed to go on and on ignoring what has been frightfully obvious to most of the football world for years and years. We don't have any Key Position Players. We have drafted 1 genuine key position player in recent history and we traded him away. Now we are stuck with the likes of Setanta and Thornton playing key position roles and we are getting smashed... and we alll sit around wondering where it all went wrong.

when you add to this the fact that our recent trades in Warnock and McLean have been nothing short of disasterous and a coach that has no idea how to get the best out of the talent that he does have at his disposal, it all points to a club heading towards a train wreck.

we have had one genuinely good win this season against Geelong. We got the Saints at the right time while they were still adjusting to life witout Nick... if you think that was a great win, just remember that the Saints lost to Port Adelaide and Essendon* and fell over the line with 3 goals in the last 5 minutes against the dogs either side of us.

the 2 wins against the last year's grand finalists were the worst thing that could have happened in hindsight, because it masked glaring deficiencies and gave fals hope.

we are a very ordinary football team

Well since Sticks has been involved with the club (not as a player) he's been involved in nearly every single poor decision this club has made.

Since Swanny's been on board the only bad ones he been involved with were they know we're coming and sitting there whilst Ratten was made coach of the club.
