With Brown and Fev gone we have no excuse ..... apart from playing on a Thursday....

Fair enough, but we have our best ruckman (Kreuzer), our best tall forward (Waite) and arguably our 2nd best tall forward (Carlos) all outs too.

Not a time for complacency.

I reckon Brions will throw Brennan and Merrett fwd - they can both cause us grief if they're on their game. This gives us the opportunity to really stretch their backs, hence I see Hammer and Warnock in this week. Hammer to play out of the square and could be a real handfull. If Carlos gets up (unlikely), no Warnock and Hammer gets Kreuzer's gig.

Ins: Warnock, Hammer, Murphy
Outs: Waite, Kreuzer, Hadley

Hoops to survive, his past few v Brions have been good, but he'd want to fire up. T-Bird should also survive, our fwd line is too iffy without a reasonable back up to throw fwd.

Knee and punches to the stomach perhaps.

On sports tonight last night Fev was interview about the game and looking forward to it, looked ok then...

A bit worried about the players reaction to Voss' comments. Carlton players are under the microscope for not protecting Judd and Voss is saying that they are going to target him with everything they've got. Hopefully they don't go outside of the rules in attempting to protect him...

It could go either way. The umps will finally start taking note of dirty tagging tactics and will ping whoever is on Judd...or they'll continue to turn a blind eye and we'll give away 100 free kicks in protecting Judd (Assuming that we bother to do so).

I think you will find Voss is all words. Think about, what does it mean when Voss says his players will throw everything at Judd? It's all just games. Of course they will tag him and try to upset him but its what other teams do every week. Voss is just saying that because he knows there has been talk that we don't protect him and he wants to create a bit of pressure within our group. I think you will find come game day most players will be more interested in getting the ball rather than 'throw everything at Judd'.

Agree with Lowey here, because what Voss has said and what other outside people have said that we don't protect Judd, our players will be thinking they need to protect Judd at every stoppage and try and bump his tagger and go overboard like the North game and give away frees. Not only that they will forget about their own opponents.

No Fev and No Brown.....our players will think they just need to turn up.

Just witnessed the odds for over 39.5 points drop from over $3 to $2.75 in 10 minutes. As soon as Carlton supporters get cocky - WE LOSE!!!

Having Fev in their team would give us something to play for - now he's out we'll probably just show up and put in minimal effort and get smashed

I have seen Brennan kick 7 goals in a game. I have seen Banfield and Sherman play blinders and I have seen Clark dominate Carlton. Staker is another. Please Carlton.. this is not the time for silly tactics and mind games. Win.

Brisbane will be fired up - they lose this then they are gone and will not make the finals. They beat us then they may force us out of the top 8 in a few weeks.

We will win, but it may not be in a super impressive fashion, which will mean all the people prediciting us to lose will go 'we beat them without Brown and Fev we still suck, the sky is still falling' :donk:

Have some confidence, we're going smash these pieces of shit. Henderson to kick 5.

When you compare the forward lines for both teams, It's pretty even. We don't have Waite and will rely on Henderson, Betts, Garlett, Yarran, Houlihan and Hampson/Ohailpin. They will have Brennan, Sherman, Banfield, Clark, Staker and Rockliff/Polkinghorne.

Compare defence and I think we have the advantage there. Bower becomes a super important player and should play better this week after coming back last game.

Jamo = Merret at the very least
Russell > Raines
Bower > Patfull
Armfield < McGrath
Thornton = Redden (if he plays in defence)
Joesph > Sheldon

Then it comes down to the midfield and the one guy that could tear as apart and win the game for the Lions is Black. If he gets going along with Power (who we continue to under estimate), Rich and Johnstone, they can easily kick a winning score. Don't forget we have been struggling to kick high scores ourselves lately.

I don't like to sound so negative but I just want the Carlton universe to realise that just because Brown and Fev are not playing doesn't mean it's an easier proposition for us. Infact, it could be harder for us to win because of the unpredictability of Brisbane, take Carlton as an example (at times)

Ratts confirms a few more team changes at his press conference. In- Murph, Setanta and Hampson while Bower will miss with a sore quad.

Two very even teams to line up this thurs. Both teams out of form and both looking to turn it around.
Should be an entertaining game to watch. Hopefully playing in Melbourne will be enough to tip things in our favour.

Blues by 8 pts.
