He's averages about 13 games a year for his career (over 7 years) so its no suprise to hear that he continues to be out injured - what else would you expect? No more suprising than to hear Xavier Clarke is out injured up in Brisbane. Who knows why they bothered recruiting Clarke. Same could be said for Brock. Not his fault of course...

I've kinda erased Brock from calculations really, when it comes to thinking about the team. It's pretty odd to recruit a guy with a top pick, see all the stories of him flying in pre-season, then watching as he performs like a battle-scarred 32 year old.

A pity. I thought recruiting him was a good idea, but I guess I assumed his body was up to it.

What astounds me most about the whole trade is that Melbourne fans laughed when it happened and immediately told me/us that his body wasn't up to it.

I'm repeating myself, but we could have taken a fit, tough and reliable Shane Tuck to play the same role (albeit with a much greater output) for 1/3 of the total cost in $$, and draft picks.... might be 29 but his body will last way longer than Brocks.

Look we've got to face facts here.

1. The deal is done and McLean is on our list.

2. Brock's body is completely shot.

3. We now have some of the best training and rehab facilities in the AFL.

The answer is obvious. We completely rebuild Brock McLean's entire body and become the first AFL team to play a half-human/half-cyborg. An uber-mensch if you'll excuse my German.

Think outside the square Carlton.

Mclean was in form and moving well prior to these new injuries.

Started in round three after he tried to spoil Ryder and copped a knee to his hip.

These things happen and are unavoidable.

I think some are overreacting with the comments that Brock's body is "shot".

He only missed 3 games for Melbourne last year (Rd17,18,19) and had a very good 2009/10 preseason.

But yes - it's looking like pick #11 was too high a price to pay.

Typical dumb Carlton list management decision. We obviously never learnt from the Mick McGuane debacle.

With us giving up good picks to get Judd and Warnock it seemed sensible to keep (and obtain) high draft picks when we could plus given the concessions to Gold Coast and GWS this pick 11 would have been a might bonus.

Totally agree package up Brock and maybe one other to gold coast for 2nd round pick... lets get something back...no point persisting with a dud.
