I reckon we are the winners from the Judd trade by such a large margin it's not funny...

We win this trade debate so easily i always have said this because as soon as i have my doubts i look at what else juddy brings to this club aswell as army. He brings a champion football brain to teach all the youth we have at the club and fast tracks all the other boys careers which is priceless. Then after realising all that just sit back and watch the worlds strongest man (Juddy) tear collingwood a knew asshole.HAHAHA

Go Blue Boys!!!!

It's not possible to overestimate the worth of Judd's onfield leadership.

Last 10 years? When did we get Deisel again? .... think its closer to 20!

I have been a critic of Army for a while (probably cause I rarely have the chance to go to a live game) ... I was at the G on Saturday and other than one massive clanger (the handpass straight to a Geelong player that shopuld have resulted in a goal) he was magic.

He busts a gut, has pace to burn and his skills were really good.

If he keeps this up Kennedy will have to be the next Fevola without the baggage to tip the trade as almost even!

On a side note it really is starting to look like WH is one of the best recruiters going round at the moment.

Might have his critics but has definately put a number of runs on the board.

Judd coming to Carlton is the best AFL club player trade since Barrassi.
I would put it ahead of Williams but behind Kernahan/Bradley/Motley (which was not really a trade b/w 2 AFL/VFL clubs.
I would also put the Swan coup slightly ahead (although not a player trade). He facilitated the Judd deal and he is probably the most important person at our club today, IMO.

There is no player I would rather have had come to Carlton than Judd. None. Probably would even prefer Judd to Voss or Hird in their prime. (J Brown would have been no.2)

BUT, I also think it was a good deal for WC. They were not going to win another flag with that mob and got an awesome deal out of losing Judd. Kennedy, No.3, Pick.20 et al. Then following up with a crap year (may not have happened with Judd) means they have probably got 3-5 extra first round picks over the 2-3years than they would have got if they'd kept Judd. These players will turn out to be good solid players at worst and may yet become stars. Means they will probably be in contention for a flag again at least sooner than they would have been. And possibly, they would not have had the talent to even contend at all in the next 5-7yrs without the Judd trade.
And, in any event, the trade was awesome for them. They may have stuffed it with who they picked up but the trade with us was still a good option for them.

(Similarly, our trading Fev is a great move for us too. I doubt we would have been able to win a flag with him but have cashed in on trading him while he was still worth something. Brisbane may win out of the deal too but I have no doubt it was a great move from us - even if he hadn't behaved so badly.)

Until Judd takes us to at least 1 flag, Diesel trade was the best. How easy we forget how good the little man was. It's a different game today and it suites Judd. But back 15 years ago Diesel was king.

I miss him.....but I love Juddy!!

I keep imagining we got pick 46 with Judd. Don't know why I keep thinking that. Am I delusional?

To me its a no brainer.....

Judd is a superstar plain and simple. You only have to look at his first half against Geelong last week to see his value as a player. Unbelieveable burst of speed, amazing vision, smart, busts packs, provides grunt, hard as nails, brings other players into the game etc etc etc. And that was just one small example of his brilliance on the field

Truth is the list of his attributes is miles longer.

Then there is his value to the team. This man instills an awe in the younger players and is a role model. His presence almost automatically raises their game to a new level. You only have to see the improvement in Gibbs, Murphy et al to realise that. I know they are talented players in their own right, but you can see them stand so much taller when Judd is there.

His value to the club is also immeasurable. A marketing dream is Judd, provides so much interest in the game for anyone who knows anything about football, he simply draws attention and that is massive for sponsorships and memberships. Thus the club gains from him as well.

I don't see how him being 27 suddenly means he "only" has three years left. We have recruited McLean, which will undoubtably ease his load, and Judd is rotating through the forward line more often. When you consider those factors, I would say its more like 6 years not three....

GO BLUES!!
