I think last weekend though matching him up against the extremely tall Gumbleton was not the best move. He was just too tall.

Gumbleton had 10 disposals, 6 marks and kicked 1 goal.

Did his height worry Walker that much?

Also, Walker had 19 disposals and considering Essendon* had around 53 inside 50s to our 40 I recken he did okay!

Ratts also said that he believed two players won their positions last week. Would one be Walker?

Walker cannot kick, I don't care how much he can run, run, run, it doesn't mean anything when his kicking results in turn overs.

He has not improved which is a shame for someone of his pick.

Trade if anyone would take him.

Certainly no worse than having Russell as the designated kick in man.

I'd love to compare Walker with Kouta but just dont see it... one has loads of onfield composure the other doesnt.

CHB is a worry, but these are the brave moves that would could win the game and I am for it. He will take Dangerfiled or Burton..but comparing Walks to Kouta is laughable -- sorry.

my only issue with Walker is the amount of times he runs, carries and bombs 50m mongrels. If the coaches are telling him to do this, it's stupid, if he's doing it instinctively then he's not following team orders.

He's not a good kick on the run and he never will be, but he brings a lot of other things to the table. ...

Well if he really has a 50 metre mongrel then he indeed does bring other "things" to the table.

I'm impressed!!!!!

Even though he hasn't been available throughout most of that time (and therefore you may be taking the piss) it is still horseshit.

AW also did an ok job last week given he was 10cm shorter than his opponent. He fluffed a few disposals, but was far from our worst.

Think you've slightly missed the point of the Tex - Kouta comparison.

Kouta had lost the drive to play afl while his father was ill and sadly passed away and was re-invented at CHB in '98, '99

Hopefully Tex can do the same thing.

No comparison talent-wise, Kouta was just a freak!

You raise a good argument. A couple of your points have made me rethink my stance on the subject. I now agree with you on this subject.

Ok i am now thinking its a good move.

Seriously though. It has to be worth a try. I think walker would be relieved to have this challenge and have a set role that he can play for now and work his way into the season.

Size it the only issue. I cant see him matching up well on Rewald or Brown. Once bower returns he probably wouldnt have to.

At least someone could see the sarcasm- Mr 'Pinup Boy' (what is that about?) couldn't. Absolutely, Walker has had a rotten few years, but he has had a full preseason, 3 games in- he has no excuses now. Should be playing better than he is.

After qtr time it was an ok to good game - for a lot of the game had no opponent and often his role was to hit a free target in defence...something he should be able to do anyway. Lucky they didn't convert from his clangers in the first quarter.
