The Blues trained behind closed doors on Wednesday, but Ratten obviously liked what he saw from important defender Paul Bower, who was a late withdrawal against the Brisbane Lions with a leg injury.

"Bower will be close, we're giving him every opportunity, but if there's any risk we won't play him," he said.

"We'll test him more tomorrow. The nine days [break] has been a bonus but we'll have a look at that tomorrow."

SEN saying that Carlton have told them that Bower is a possible return this week. I doubt it.

On the Channel 10 news tonight they had footage of Paul with his right knee strapped doing some boxing/punching. He didn't look in any discomfort.

I would prefer vision of him running without discomfort....

All we have to go by is Ratten apparently liking what he saw at a closed session. Surely we've had an open session since last Thursday? If so, does anyone know if he was even out there?

We should go down to the club, split the bill on an MRI of his leg, sort all this stuff out.

He wouldn't unless the bag fights back.

Didn't look like he was doing much running on Ch 10. Just punching??

I'll be surprised if he plays.

Well if he's going to be out for 3 weeks, we may as well pick him and get him to punch Reimer's lights out in the first minute.

Perhaps that's why he's training with the bag.

Now THAT is the kind of selection policy I am looking for. Pre-emptive strikes.

And Alwyn Davey as well, when he runs into Thornton after they kick a goal and get another free infront for taking a flop!!

That happened twice in a row if l remember correctly from our two games against the scum.

Thornton is better off falling over if that happens again, maybe he will get the free - so long as it is obviously not a dive

If Thornton falls over from a Davey bump, the AFL will charge him with bringing the game into disrepute

Closed door training sessions can only mean one thing....loss coming up this week....

So it's been 2 games so far. Anyone know if 'The Power' is any chance to play this week?

ps whilst on the topic, had to laugh at PB's wikipedia page the other day:

"Paul Bower receives a cult following from Carlton supporters, who chant "Bower has the Power" and erupt with loud roars and support when he receives the ball during the game."
