Forget rotations, zones, clusters, floods hard ball gets etc......
Footy is simple. If your disposal is spot on you will win. St Kilda won last night b/c they kick to perfection. The fewer clangers and turnovers the fewer goals you will concede
Every year the team that kicks the ball best wins the flag - If you hit targets you can work your way through any zone, flood or any other defensive tactic your opposition coach sets up.

Unforunately most players at Carlton have terrible foot skills even when they kick to a player its often on teh wrong side and gives defenders a chance
how does an AFL player miss a target by foot who is 30 metres away by 10m????? It doesnt matter how good a runner you are or how courageous you are u will lose if you cant hit targets.

So the Farren Rays or Dane Swans or Brett Kirks of the world are better kicks than the Murphy's and Gibbs of the world...why do the kicking hacks I named seem to be effective at their clubs and our No 1's seem lost at ours...Is it the player? Or is it something else? Me thinks it's something else....

For god's sake do not turn yet another thread into a vendetta against Ratt's coaching.

You have had a go in plenty of other J&K...

My apologises...our players can't kick....they need to practice more behind closed doors till they get it right...I'm sure this will help...there you go!

Every team can carry half a dozen at most players who are tough but not brilliant disposal but we have 18 guys who cannot reliably hit a target.

Name the bad kickers at Geelong, St Kilda or Bulldogs and even Hawthorn.................You cant come up with more than 3 at each club...........ENOUGH SAID

No Probs Mrs Caz but aren't you getting sick of the open vendetta people have against our playing list also....we have serious talent on that list and it is being wasted...

Unfortunately we will need to endure a bit more frustration and unhappiness before things start to improve.

In my view there's plenty of blame to share around, but you do make a good point here

Don't think it's that simple ... disposal efficiency and execution is as much about technique as it is about your teammates working to make space to give a clear target, blocking and shepherding to give the player space and time to execute, clear team rules so the ball carrier knows what to execute and doesn't 2nd guess.

The good teams work for each other, the Blues didn't tonight.

Just about the smartest thing on here in the last 12 hours. Some people like LA understand footy...many on here do not. Juddy&theKreuzers for instance knows nothing about football.

Sorry, that's crap. St Kilda won because Collingwood didn't know how to kick goals.

Disposal accuracy and goal-kicking accuracy are different things. You need disposal accuracy to get the ball to the goal kickers. Collingwood arguably outplayed St Kilda in a lot of areas on Friday night, but just couldn't put the score on the board. Much like what we did last night, and last week against Brisbane.

But that's the game. Shit happens.

My pet hate.

PLEASE - do not call the game AFL - it's Australian Rules.

AFL is just the competition Carlton plays in.

It is very simple - 6 areas.

1) put your head over the ball

2) when you have it 2 things should happen

you hit a target (by hand or foot)
targets present for you to hit.

3) when they have it 2 things should happen

you pressure them so they miss their target (by hand or foot)
you pressure them so that no targets present

4) Own the corridor

5) make them play as wide as you can.

6) Kick the ball through the big sticks as often as you can and prevent them from kicking the ball through the big sticks as often as you can.

I'd suggest we lost on all 6 counts against the bummers.

ps taking a @#$%&! overhead mark helps with all 6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
